That was totaly Reinsdorf. He now has that entire station by the balls!! You're at the Score and cross Jerry?,,,you're outta there! He also got Marriotti dumped by WMVP which did it as a last resort to try and keep the Sox--which had no chance to happen. That after Jay had more numbers in one book than Carmen and Silvy produced in an enitre year. It does'nt matter what you think of Marriotti,,Jerry not only runs the Sox broadcasts but he now is the tail that can wag the Score(which at times is a dog). Jerry is a control freak and he wins again!!

I'll always love Jimmy because of his pairing with Harry Carey. My introduction to baseball was on the old WSNS 44 and I still believe they were best announce team ever. Candid and controversial, they were never afraid to step on toes, unlike these company line shills we're forced to endure today. I still remember being 9 years old and saying "You tell 'em Jimmy!", when a "jerk" named Steve Dahl was causing a riot on my team's field. Did he mail it in the last few years? Sure, but so did Harry, and he was beloved to the end, when he was a shell of his late 70's self. The guy is 76 years old, and he still loves the game more than ever. I just think that's cool.

Ditto. Those not old enough to remember him and Harry paired up on the Sox games only think of him as the kind-of-goofy 70+ year old babbling with Murph. Harry and Jimmy were cutting edge in the 1970's and a breath of fresh air after years of Brickhouse, Bob Elson, and Jack Drees doing the Sox. Harry & Jimmy would come on and talk about their alimony payments, Harry's drinking, how Jimmy hated Anthony Perkins' portrayal of him in "Fear Strikes Out" because he "threw like a girl," and of course Jimmy's bout with mental illness. (Harry, after disagreeing with Jimmy on a strategy move: "Are you crazy?" Jimmy: "Yeah, and I got the papers to prove it!") And they were HIGHLY critical of the Sox when they deserved it. I'll miss him, admittedly more for old times' sake than what he was contributing to The Score lately, but I'll miss him nonetheless.

I remember those channel 44 days with Harry and Jimmy. Remember Falstaff Beer? I couldnt stand Harry in the Cub days but when he was with the Sox and he was under 70, I thought he was the best. Drunk announcers are still the best announcers. As for Jimmy? It was time for him to go. He didnt even know the players anymore much less how to say their names.
