This has been in the news for a few days. I was waiting for one of our totally unbiased and non partisan patriotic Americans to start a thread about it.

Yes, he did. And then he played the victim card when he was axed.

Dan Rather talking about "overlords" is rich...

Wasn't Rather axed for statements later proven to be true and questionable (to the Bush family's integrity) about W's part time service protecting Alabama from Tennessee while avoiding Vietnam?

He knowingly used a phony document in a story on W.

To call Rather a journalist after that, is an insult to actual journalists.

Iirc he got burned by a 3rd party on the document, but the story he ran was still largely accurate.

He got burned by his lack of ethics and journalistic integrity.

He has no one to give responsibility to but himself. And to this day, he refuses to accept it his own part in it.

the left has been screaming about getting rid of "fake news" for a good solid 18 months. a conservative company makes affiliates read vague statement regarding fake news don't mention trump once and now everyone's in a tizzy.

Bitch please. If it was 50 some stations all reading a script about we should avoid fake news stories about the Hill Dawg you know exactly what the reaction of the Right would be. And it sure as shit wouldn't be to discredit the source calling them out.

What was the transcript of the statement they all read. I've only seen it referenced as "anti-Fake News" with the anchors saying the practice "threatens our democracy" which is something I'm pretty sure Dems have been clutching their pearls over for more than a year.

Because yes, given how the statements were framed in the piece linked, outrage at the statement from Dems seems incredibly hypocritical.

Did the statements say "Fake News targeting the President" or "targeting our government" or "the Republican Party" or anything like that? I haven't seen any political quotes pulled from it.

So, uh...pretty unbiased. Like, not at all biased, with no hint of bias or political leaning.

Baby, your response?

Yea, I don't think anyone with a functioning brain should trust 202 news stations vomiting this garbage.

Newscasts can say whatever they want:

FOX New - "Fair and Balanced"
CNN - "The Most Trusted Name in News"

etc etc etc

Use common sense and turn off bullshit when it begins to talk.

I don't mind the message. I do think that it should have been an editorial read by preferably the corporate chairman, or at least the station manager. I am old enough to remember when all the local news channels here ran editorials. Mary Laney used to do Channel 5's, and I think at one point Andy Shaw might have read the ones for Channel 7.

When local anchors read editorials, it should be their opinion, not their manager's opinion.

The words seem innocuous on paper until you parse them as coming from Sinclair. We know where they stand. Then it's clear that when they talk about "members of the media [using] their platforms to push their own personal bias and agenda," they're not talking about Alex Jones or Laura Ingraham.

I think it's interesting that the video was a Deadspin production. I thought they started Splinter to abandon the charade of still having Gawker but hiding all the Gawker writers inside Deadspin, Gizmodo, and Jezebel. Maybe it was a conscious decision to show that no one will, nay, can merely STICK TO SPORTS.

If you are convinced that it's about politics with no mention of politics in their statement, will you please post that pic of yourself wearing your favorite tinfoil hat?

Just know that I initially thought to repost the still image from the deleted Facebook Live video as the "only BMac picture I want to see", but I didn't. Too much class.

That's how people who don't see everyone and everything as a political pawn see it.
