I pretty much stopped going to DD after I heard that.

Was the manager Apu?

Yes, or one of his cousins.

this 100%.

I'm convinced that DD has ruined donuts for the rest of the country. They've taken over to the point where most of us have only experienced their version of what a donut should be. Recently I had some donuts from some of the boutique donut shops downtown and the differfence was night and day. DD donuts are no better than Enteman's and any othe donut you can buy pre-packaged from a national brand.

Anyone who eats DD donuts is a douchebag.

I generally only grab a couple donuts for the kids on the way to school or I'll bring in a dozen to work once every month or two.

Their donuts always seem day old these days. Must be because they're made off site and frozen.

99% of the time, I only get their coffee.

Try a Stan's Donuts if you are near one.

I'm not a fan of Stan's, but Los Angeles donuts pretty much kill Chicago donuts. My favorite is Donut King on Sepulveda a few miles north of LAX, $0.95 regular donuts and they're excellent.

In Chicago, Do-Rite are the best I've had for a variety of donuts, but they're damned expensive. Old Fashioned has been a close #2 and still has the best apple fritters and cake donuts, but the old man just started franchising so I'm a bit worried about what's going to happen when he finally stops working.

The one benefit from having my recent heart surgery at Northwestern was it's close proximity to Stan's as well as Do-Rite. Managed to try both a couple times over the past few months. Not impressed with Stan's. Like Do-Rite better. Both are miles better than DD. Shouldn't even be grouped together.

I went to one over near Utica/Ottawa (Can’t remember). a dozen years ago and the donuts were so stale we’ve never gone back to another DD. Good to know I might ohave eaten floor donuts too.

I do like the bacon, egg and cheese wake-up wraps and croissants...and those little greasy hash browns are very tasty.

True. How the hell does that make more sense? The cinnamon coffee rolls became honey buns and they SUCK now.

Donut Drop in Schaumburg has the best donuts in the NW ‘burbs. Check them out.

Spunky Dunkers (Palatine) might be one of the finer donut shops in the NW burbs.
