Have you confirmed this with your bank? They pretty much hate seeing fraud as much as the customer affected. They don't want people scared off from using their bank, card system. Work with them to get it back.

Well I’d actually like to see the money again - so first try is to go after the company who knowingly used my card NUMBER when I wasn’t present, without my permission or signature. It’s not like it was just swiped at a target. It’s one of those crap shady dealerships where anyone can get a car no matter what.

So was it the company's fault or did someone else swipe your information and use it for a down payment? As others have said, you definitely need to go to your bank.

Had a credit card fraudulent charge from T-Mobile. Went straight to Chase, and they refunded it and issued new cards within 5 days.
