It is less of an issue with the higher interstate speed limits now. On posted 70 mph roads, I keep it to 76-78 and have never had an issue. We made it down and back to FL with no issues this Spring Break, and we were up in Wisconsin four times in 2017 and once already this year without issue.

Yeah, and for whatever reason, Wisconsin drivers think it's perfectly acceptable to do the speed limit or under in the left lane, so rarely is there an opportunity to speed anyways on the Interstate.

I take I-90 west up. It is interesting how IL fixed the congestion for that road on our side of the border, while WI is racing to catch up. We had some hellish traffic last year as soon as I hit the border. Plus there is a variety of construction. In looking it up on their road site, apparently, there is a project that spans many years to get I-90 to three lanes through from the border to Madison.

Fuck yeah! Board outing in Janesville!

I've always been able to go a smooth 75 once I cross into Wisconsin with no problems.

Up around the New Lisbon exit mainly. We are looking at lake property off Castle Rock/Petenwell. Also made a trip to Waupaca, Steven's Point, and UW Madison. We have been up there a lot.....

My family is pretty entrenched in the Castle Rock area. Been going there since early teens.

Seriously? That's good to know. We have been been debating lots on those two lakes. Castle Rock has more restaurants/bars on the lake, while Petenwell has better lots since it's almost undeveloped. Co-workers have a place on Castle Rock. Unfortunately you can't boat from one to the next due to that dam/elevation difference.

Do you like the area? We intend to eventually retire in the home we build now.

That's about as high as you want to go....
I commute to either Milwaukee or menomenee falls from IL. No exaggeration....there are 2-3 cars pulled over for speeding each way, every day, without failure.

Wisconsin State Troopers would write their own Mothers a speeding ticket

The last time I went was with my BIL, who lived in Milw. We started at Sazs State House for supper and took their shuttle over, cold beer in hand on the way. After the game, the bus was about 50 feet from the stadium exit, filled up in two minutes and we were off. Total commute time was like 20 minutes.

Well, Steve, Milwaukee has certainly had its share of visitors. The French missionaries and explorers were coming here as early as the late 1600s to trade with the Native Americans. In fact, it's pronounced "mill-e-wah-que" which is Algonquin for "the good land." I think one of the most interesting things about Milwaukee is that it's the only American city to elect three Socialist mayors.

Does this guy know how to party or what?

Less than that from Winnetka. But the series in Miami was a longer trip. as was the trip to Mesa for a week of spring training. This season I just feel like taking in quite a few series' on the road again. Fun to see different ballparks and tickets are often readily available at much cheaper prices on the road. Not so much the case in Milwaukee though, as so many other Cub fans create a high demand for tickets. But it's a much better place to see a game when the weather is lousy than Wrigley Field. It may be a beautiful park, but with no retractable roof, it's a damn cold place very often in early April.

If you don't like to fight traffic, I suggest doing as I did a year ago. After the Sunday day game, we went to play golf after the game at a course only like 3 miles from the ballpark. Honestly, though it was rated highly, it turned out to be a crummy golf course. But it was still a lot better than sitting in traffic. Unfortunately, golf was not an option yesterday, so we just drove home after the game. There is a restaurant called the Edelweis that takes diners out on a boat on Lake Michigan for a nice dinner. The boat has glass on the sides and a deck fore and aft to look at the sites along the lake as a guide teaches the group about the various places that have come and gone along the lake in the area. Again, just a fun town with lots to do there and while I hear about fights at the park, most fans are really good natured and just wanting to see a good ballgame.

In addition to the Cubs games (3) we went scuba diving at the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, played Golf at the Miami Beach Golf Club twice and went deep sea fishing out of Ft. Lauderdale and took the 2 Mahi Mahi and 2 black fin Tuna I caught to a restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale named Coconuts, where they cooked them up for us. We only ate 2 of them there and took the other 2 back with us to eat the next day. They did a great job cooking them. Was it old white people stuff? Hell, I just know I enjoyed it all. Yeah, South Beach is a very different atmosphere than Milwaukee. A real international city and the weather of course was great, but Milwaukee was a lot of fun this past weekend too.
