After getting their first series win, they keep rolling in their first homestand and hopefully avoid frostbite in the opener. I especially like the match-up in the opener.

Pirates are not as awful as people thought but they have NO bullpen whatsoever.

Jesus Maddon, #8 hitter is up(who is hot) 2 outs and he doesn't walk to get to the pitcher. WTF!

Colin Moran looks like he could be a ball player but the other three guys they got for Gerrit Cole might be bums. I wonder if the Cubs ever had discussions with the Pirates about the 2 year cost controlled Cole.

The Pirates were never going to trade him in the division.

Um, no. The Cubs has been to three straight NLCS'. That isn't bad...

Today, yes the teams are playing poorly.

Cubs have sucked today, but the Audi Club has been stellar.

Through game #10:

1. Your LEAD OFF hitter Ian Happ has struck out 56% of the time and his OBP is .230 this season, meanwhile Almora’s career: strikes out 16% of the time, batting .287 and a much much better defender
2. Baez’s swing is always violent. Those home runs were awesome but he continues to swing at stupid pitches. Plate discipline is still an issue after 5 years in MLB. Where a are you Chili?
3. Give Jason Heyward a chance to leadoff. He’s had success there before
4. Kris Bryant is on pace to becoming an 8 WAR player this year

Time has come to put contreras at leadoff

I was suggesting this on our trip up to Milwaukee on Saturday.

Annoying loss. Great AB by Heyward in the 8th against a reasonably tough lefty.

Once Rizzo is back, Happ needs to go to Iowa until he can get his strikeouts under 20%. Let the AAAA guy sit on the bench and earn $3k/game for a couple of weeks.

The ball Haap let drop in front of him to score 2 runs today was ridiculous. Almora catches that ball every time. Haap should NEVER play CF unless Almora is injured or sick.
Baez....you take the good with the bad and there is a hell of a lot of good.
Heyward .....I hope Chili Davis can make him into a productive hitter, but that hit is a fluke in my eyes until he does it a hell of a lot more often.

Bryant may well win another MVP this year.

He is a run producer, so better suited in the 3-5 slots. Zobrist is the best OBP guy other than Bryant I believe, so I put Zo there.

I seem to remember reading about the hidden great part about being called up before September is that it takes some relatively small time on the roster to qualify for the pension and life long health care.
