Sorry, wishful thinking. I don't understand why pitchers would ever throw him a strike.

In retrospect, they should have dealt some combination of Baez, Happ, Russell, Schwarber, Almora for their pitcher last year and kept Jimenez. A 2-4 of Jimenez, Rizzo, Bryant is what you call a core.

First player Hahn asked for was Schwarber. Theo said no.

Big mistake.

So you scored 1 run against the Marlins yesterday in 17 innings and struck out 20 times against Caleb Smith, Jacob Turner, Drew Steckenrider, Kyle Barraclough, Brad Ziegler, Jarlin Garcia, and Odrisamir Despagne.

It's also game 2. Yay! Baseball is back! Booo! Err'yone is sluggish!

Jacob Turner, once a Dave Dombrowski top 10 overall pick, somehow still hanging in the league. Forget who Dombrowski flipped him to the Marlins for. Back when Dombrowski routinely dumped his busts on the Marlins. Tho Andrew Miller was one of those busts--at least as a starter--who eventually revived his career as top-shelf bullpen arm. Don't see RH Turner making the same transition southpaw Miller made.

But it is not just two games. We saw this during the playoffs last year.

yeah actually it is just 2 games.

Every team in the league is going to have games where they struggle to score runs and have strikeouts. In fact, most teams will have MANY games like this. It is called baseball.

In the first inning of Thursday afternoon's game, you said this looks like a 96 win team.

I'll elaborate since nobody commented on this odd remark.

I'll give White Sox fans 6 games to get it out of their system. It's been a long winter and I know how much you've wanted to talk about the Cubs.

Get it out. No one will judge you.

We have an undefeated team. You don’t. Sox fans win any debate right now.

I’d wait 6 games and resurrect this argument though.

Only striking out at a 24% while drawing a few walks hitting ahead of the pitcher. Decent start for Javy if his BABIP comes up and normalized a bit.

Has 6 hits on the year, 5 for extra bases. 2 HR, 2 3B, 1 2B.

Just throwing prospect Jimenez in there with the MVP and multiple all star Rizzo. I continue to wait for JORR to get on you for this stuff.

You may end up being right though. But who knows if Jimenez will ever be as good as any of those major leaguers you listed?

The Javy hate is out of control. You want Javy Baez on your team.

Baez is untouchable for you?

No, nobody is untouchable on the Cubs, but he's a guy who helps you win, imo.

He has flashes of great talent. Seems to me he needs some improvement at the plate as far a k's.

Not sure how much he'll improve but yea, that's the weak part of his game.

I just dont think he's a guy you should be looking to get rid of.

If you were going to, the time to do so would have been after the WS when his stock was at an all time high. Really no sense in shopping him now. I doubt somebody is going to blow you away with an offer for Baez.

Baez will probably have a 4-5 fWAR season. He could fetch plenty in return. Bad baseball thoughts.

And my original bump was that his K rate is down to 24% while hitting ahead of the pitcher. He has made steady improvement in 3 years.
