Nothing more than red meat for his base. He's got balls!

I think you're misreading the situation. Trump's base doesn't support endless war. In fact he specifically ran against it. And now you have Ann Coulter and others who were his strongest supporters running around slamming him.

War in the Middle East is what the Washington Establishment, the Deep State, McCain, Graham, the Clinton wing wants. It appears they've gotten spineless and clueless Trump to go along.

Would it really surprise you if the CIA was behind the gas attack?
Trump truly is great!

Great takeaway today!

Russia vows to shoot down any and all missiles fired at Syria. Get ready Russia, because they will be coming, nice and new and “smart!” You shouldn’t be partners with a Gas Killing Animal who kills his people and enjoys it!

Really? As if the CIA has never operated covert wars.

The election of Trump has turned the world on its head. Suddenly lifelong liberals have tremendous faith and trust in the surveillance state/intelligence "community".

It's not a matter of "discovering" anything. Administrations come and go- Democrats, Republicans- but the people running intelligence remain in place. If you're suggesting there is never an agenda, I'm going to disagree and I can cite examples. The screaming about WMDs in Iraq was not even that long ago. Have we already forgotten?

The term Deep State has multiple meanings I guess.

I know some guys who believe Hillary and Obama are co leaders of the Deep State.

That's not what I meant by the term. Although I do think the Clinton faction of the Democratic Party supports a war- or at least heavy U.S. involvement- in Syria. https://twitter.com/ggreenwald/status/9 ... 2544112640

(And I'm not even saying that's wrong. I don't know the answer. But I think most Americans probably would rather avoid such entanglements which was part of the reason for the rise of "alternative" politicians like Trump and Sanders.)

My response to Chus was simply about what Trump's "base" wants- and I don't believe it's involvement in all kinds of foreign wars. Although there is obviously a certain type of hardcore Trump supporter for whom Trump can do no wrong. It's more a cult of personality or something, rather than based in any ideology or policy. Which makes sense because Trump has no coherent policy/ideology.

Ike warned the USA about it in his farewell speech. JFK talked about smashing the CIA and scattering it to the winds.
Read L. Fletcher Prouty,The Secret Team. You might learn something. Oh and he was a Kennedy/Liberal/Democrat.

That's quaint, but I don't think that's the case. Conventional war profiteers?

I didn't read through all 7 pages...

But, stay with me now, is it possible that the rebels would use chemical weapons on their own people knowing full damn well it'd cause a US response?

They have a LOT more to gain a chemical weapon attack than Assad.

I missed IkeSouth's farewell speech, but it probably warned us about skanks from Fitchburg.

But not all of it.

Why is "smart" in quotes? Is it some kind of ironic intelligence? Is the wink implied?

My interpretation is he was referring to so-called 'smart' ordinances and/or their ability to render expected countermeasures ineffective, to the surprise of those launching said countermeasures.

I got sa feeling Trump does not know when attack is gonna kick off. Remember he just tells Mattis what needs done and lets Mad Dog get it done. I got a feeling he is waiting for one of the SSGN to get in position.
