Not to derail the thread, but Murphy reminds me of my argument against why Santo shouldn't be in the HoF. Here's his similar batters:

Aramis Ramirez (881.4)
Scott Rolen (876.8)
Dale Murphy (875.4)
Ken Boyer (874.1)
Gary Gaetti (873.8)
Ruben Sierra (865.6)
Chili Davis (865.2)
Bobby Bonilla (863.6)
Brian Downing (861.5)
Graig Nettles (860.4)

That's right, Ron Santo is basically the white Aramis Ramirez.

I had a Bobby Bonilla bat.

Dale Murphy was the best hitter in the NL for I'd guess at least 3-4 years.

He was a comet of Atlanta Braves baseball.

Damn, now I'm trying to remember what bat I used to have. I'm pretty sure I had a Sandberg bat, but can't remember.

I also had a George Brett.
I think it was a standard issue piece of equipment in the early 80s.

Left handers are geniuses or psychotic.

I had a Rawlings basketweave thing. I can't remember the name on it.

I had a Kirby Puckett glove. It was perfect for beating some sense into a bitch.

Also had a Tony Pena catcher’s mitt.

First real glove was a catchers mitt with Lance Parrish's name on it. Used to borrow my dad's old Spaulding glove that had
Lou Pinella's name on it. In one of the towns we lived in up north they had a minor league affiliate for the Seattle Mariners.
They sold broken bats at the merch tent and my dad bought one for me. It was a big and heavy Louisville Slugger. Used to
hit a tennis ball around the yard with it. I believe my dad still has it and keeps it under his bed for security.

I may be wrong, but I think he's trying to tell you he goes both ways, not that there's anything wrong with that.

And for the life of me, I can't remember who was on my catcher's mitt.

Bobby Bo was the price for Jose Deleon right? I actually went to a couple games that year and remember wondering why the hell they traded Bonilla. To be fair, as a kid I thought that abou5 almost every trade either side of town made.

I had a Billy Williams mitt with a hole on the back for the index finger. I’m not sure why that was a thing but I liked it.
