I despise Jimmy John's. It's a very small step above Subway. I think Jersey Mike's is a big step above. It will do in a pinch but if I have time there are premium sandwich shops throughout the city

I prefer a hot sandwich so I put Subway above JJs but I never get Subway because they don't deliver.

If I'm getting in a car, I'm not going to Subway.

Jersey Mike's is far above in quality but I never go there either because....see Subway above.

Did you try the steak and cheese or a different sub? I think their other subs suck.

Typically I’ll do something with salami and pepperoni or ham. I honestly can’t recall but it wasn’t the steak and cheese. The only time I get steak and cheese is when I am in Philly. Nothing locally compares to me.

stop it

There are plenty of authentic philly cheese steak places in the city run by Philadelphians who import all the authentic ingredients.

Plenty? I only know Monti's.

He’s trolling. What else is new?

Here is a rather large kielbasa for you to enjoy, dennis.

Wow,nobody likes Jimmy John's?

I enjoy the fact that their lunch meats taste deli fresh and not some packaged shit like a Subway sandwich.

This was just a public service announcement.

I anxiously await IMU's review.

I've never been a fan of any sub chain, except JJ. Gotta stick with mom and pop delis.

GD wins the Internet today. I bow to his superior knowledge of the Chicago culinary scene. But you can keep the eggs and sausage. I would like to patronize some of those places.

Mojo's in Downers has a real Philly with the Amorosos... I thought it was very good. Good fries too.

Yes, Mojo's is great. I wonder when these places say they fly in the Amoroso bread, are they getting frozen dough? I assume they aren't flying in already-baked rolls.

i had a really good cheesesteak at mad river back in 2010 during the stanley cup. i think they imported their bread from tony luke's, which is far superior to geno's or pat's.

i agree about the Jersey Mike's prices. and crowds on sunday afternoons are fucking ridiculous. have they finally stopped asking that godforesaken "mike's way?" every time you get to the fixin's? that always has driven me crazy.

there are some local delis that i frequent so i can avoid the chains.

When I lived in Evanston there was a Jimmy John's less than a mile from my house. One night I called for delivery and they told me to call the Skokie location which was about three miles away. After hearing their dumb commercials about fast delivery I was naturally infuriated. I actually wrote a letter to Jimmy himself. He pretty much told me to go fuck myself. I'm on permanent boycott.

I guy I know who worked for Jimmy John's alerted me to the fact that there is a giant hole in their coverage in the downtown (they call it uptown) Park Ridge area. For any of your entrepreneurs out there. Lot of offices and medium-density residential that would fall in that delivery area.

Fool's gold: Park Ridge seems a little too woke-consumption liberal to buy the wage-thieving poacher sandwiches.

What's ordering a sandwich from Pitt Mike's like? Let's riff this out.

I didn't read the menu and I'm just going off my guess of what you sell so I'll have the ravioli

You are the only person I know who would do this. I think you're crazy, but I respect it.

In general, I don't understand why all sandwich shops have to be hipsterish. Jimmy John's has their cute little phrases and lists, and Potbelly's always has some guy who hasn't showered or shaved in a week blasting the guitar at the door.
