About what?

Corporations no longer care about their workers. Workers should react similarly.

That was for DB.

But you were the one who believed that. Perhaps you should grow up and find out where babies come from.

I never did asshole. You are so fucking annoying.

I’m taking a break because one guy calls my family liars and the other is otherwise going to be murdered.

I have no doubt your family took 12 weeks off.

I'm telling you the law, up until January 2018, was 6 weeks at 55%, with 2 of those weeks being vacation time. This is a fact. That is why it is too early to know if it will have an impact on the gender pay gap, though California is top 3 in that metric not including the new law.

Mike, could the policy you are referencing been something akin to extended leave? Where you can take up to 18 weeks but only 6 are paid?

And murder is never the answer.

Unless it is an unwanted pregnancy.

The days of pensions for younger workers are virtually gone in the private sector.

When I get laid off I'm not getting anything more from my company.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, keep the break short. We wouldn’t want your pay to fall behind. :D

Like I said, assuming that an individual is going to work less or take more time off because of her sex is egregious. But when a woman decides to leave at 5:00 everyday to take care of her family and others are killing at the office every night until eight- and some of them may be women too- the one that leaves at five shouldn't expect to advance like the others. And there are simply less women willing to put in those hours.

BRick seems to think that making those choices shouldn't affect advancement and salary. I'm open to the argument as to why they shouldn't. We can make whatever kind of society we want. But it's usually best not to fight against human nature. That's why communism doesn't work. There will always be the person who isn't satisfied with their "fair share" and who will aggressively grab more. It's usually a man.

Off topic but we'd probably be better off with nobody working crazy hours.

Who's talking about pensions? I thought we were talking about high-ambition people that wanted to be senior executives.

Family and Medical Leave Act is a federal law that guarantees employees up to 12 weeks of job protected unpaid leave each year. In early 2000s California passed a law that they can be paid leaves but it comes out of state disability funds, I think.

But unless it’s made unlawful, it won’t end.

There are always going to be people who strive for better, and others who are resentful of them. I’ve actually seen articles suggesting that parents who read to their kids and help them with homework are disadvantaging the kids whose parents don’t take as much of an interest. Crazy stuff.

It should be unlawful to have someone work 80 hours a week and not get overtime.

I dunno how I originally quoted you. I think that was the part I meant to delete. MANY people work insane hours because they have nothing else in life or that's what makes them happy or what they think will make them happy.

Random anecdote. Both my boss and my boss' boss are both women. Neither of them ever had kids. Neither of them are now married.

Probably, but that seems like wishful thinking. In reality there are always going to be employees willing to work those hours and there will always be employers who encourage it.

I don't really worry about that type of stuff. I feel sorry for those who do.

I will say it's odd that many of you seem to work at places where extra work goes unnoticed and unrewarded. I'd look for a new job if I was you.
