Would any competent GM take Moncada over Baez? I say no.

Baez is everything the White Sox want out of Moncada. I am confident Moncada's defense will never be as good as Baez. Baez has him beat in raw power and even BB/K ratio.

A steal for the Cubs to not have to give up a once in a generation pitcher for Baez!

This almost gets Jim Hendry off the hook for trading Archer for Garza.

In two weeks we'll all be ready to trade Baez for bat handle tape.

Dude's offensive game is all or nothing

The only comment I can make in this regard is it is possible at this point Baez will not change his plate discipline. It is possibe, maybe, Moncada can still do that? Otherwise yes Moncada not so great.

Would you trade Baez for Moncada? Knowing how he struggles at the plate and has limited power and defense compared to Baez?

Not for the Cubs, they certainly have no need for another middle infielder.

If I was a rebuilding team, Id consider it.

Fair enough, I would want the better defensive player with power if I was rebuilding. Baez and Russell's D is critical for the Cubs pitchers. The young Sox pitchers coming up would benefit more with Baez/Russell then Anderson/Moncada behind them.

No. The White Sox want more than that out of Moncada.

We want Schwarbs to be the next Babe Ruth. Not going to happen.

What have you seen to think Moncada will be better then Baez?

age specific MLB seasons are pretty comparable to this point and I have heard that Baez is a potential MVP. I'll accept Moncada being an MVP

I'm not sure what makes you say that. I'd be pretty happy if Moncada were Baez. But he's a totally different kind of player. He doesn't really have a position. Yeah, I think he will walk more than Baez. But that doesn't excite me.

So you traded the greatest White Sox pitcher of this generation for Baez (you hope) and a guy who will more then likely need Tommy John surgery when the rebuild is finished?

I don't think Moncada will be as good as Baez, Offensively he could probably be a slightly better hitter but not even close with the glove.

It's on Michael Kopech to save the trade.

What a strange thread.

Juiced also is one of the big "Sox fans are obsessed with the Cubs" posters.

Anthony Rizzo is closer to major back surgery than Kopech is to Tommy John.

This is just more unrealistic Cub fan talk. If the Cubs had traded for Moncada you'd be pointing out how young he is and comparing him to Chipper Jones.

Honestly. What insider information is there that Kopech needs Tommy John? The Cubs aren't playing well so you have find ways to dig at the rebuild?

Sale, as a player in a White Sox uniform, didn't have much value as soon as they finally figured out that baseball wants you to tank for many seasons to be competitive. He would have been due for a massive pay raise around the time that the White Sox would be done with that process.

This is the Cubs forum, not the Sox and how is this any different then Rizzo vs Abreu?

I am comparing a CUBS player from their rebuild to a Sox player and their rebuild. I find the strategy of both teams interesting.

Not like I am posting on the Sox forums about how they are playing. Chill out big B.

It's strange because Baez has played 300 more games than him.

I don't need to dig the rebuild, the Sox are doing fine doing that themselves.

Kopech has been throwing 90MPH since he was 14! If you don't think he has an increased risk of TJ then you are in denial or just stupid.

Yes and you hope at the end of Moncada's 300 that he is as good as Baez. So far, not so good.

Rizzo has had back problems since he was 14! If you don't think he is a candidate for fusion surgery you are just an idiot Cubs fan!

Baez has grown on me but I can't imagine wanting him as the centerpiece of a trade for Chris Sale.

The point is you need an All-Star player when you trade a player like Sale. Not "pretty good" Baez

I would be ripping Theo apart if he traded Sale for Moncada and a gimmick pitcher.
