They don't need shuttles; there are CTA buses that will take you from those stations to Wrigley. It would just be nice to have.

I like to stay back after the game, get hammered at the bars and let traffic settle.

No. It was simply replicated in Lakeview.

Yeah, DA NEIGHBORHOOD isn't Wrigleyville, but it's by design; the Sox want a walled garden where you're spending all your money under the auspices of the team. The Cubs want that too, of course, they're just having a little more trouble putting up the walls.

Only walled garden they got there is Altgeld Gardens (at least in the eyes of 90% of the people in the Chicago area)

The Southwest Service absolutely should have a stop right at the parking lots near 35th. I know that route is funky and it runs on freight tracks, but they would only have to stop there on game days. That stop would not even have to be as nice as Lou Jones across the way. Just put in some concrete stairs, a ramp, and railings.

I mean an L line built out to the I-90 stops. The CTA buses are horrible, again, especially on way back from day games. The poor students on those buses have to put up with drunk Cubs fans, while the fans have to make every stop. Literally, people get on those buses to go two blocks.

Of course, the shear jenius of FRANK is once again on display! Like its just a matter of going over to the HOME DEPOT with the LATIN"s and buyng some Sackrete and railings?

Come On. First, you have to talk to the METRA GUYS! Then you have to talk to the local Aldermen! Then you have to talk with the CITY! And when you talk to them, CASH ONLY! Of course, JERRY will want something too! JERRY, great guy in life, BUYS DRINKS! But always Wants SOMETHING in return?

Again the lowlevel IQ coming from FRANK is not shocking, not surprising, but expected!

No, they would never do that. I don't think they want spurs on the Blue Line (hence the Pink Line) and it would cost a ton. The priority is extending the Red Line, and who knows whether that will ever get done.

This is entirely true. There is nothing wrong with the location of 35th and Shields, nor is there anything wrong with the ballpark in it's current state.

Does anyone remember when they were discussing building a new stadium in the South Loop? Of all the proposed White Sox stadium sites i believe that would have been the one that would have took off.

cool article. that would have been a great ballpark if they went with it. But probably better for them to move to the suburbs where most of their fans are nowadays.

Nope, wrong again, baseball stadiums should be centrally located because you need to get 30,000+ in and out of them 81 times a year. Chicago has it right with Wrigley and Comiskey (and if anything, the Cubs have a more suburban fanbase, so you're wrong twice here).

Did I kill your mother and not know about it or something?

I remember before they built the current stadium they had plans to build it I think where congress and wacker drive meet. I don't remember if that is considered south loop. If they did that that would have been a great boon. It would have been better than camden location wise and the smaller space maybe would let them build a more camden like ballpark. And w/ those exciting early 90s Sox teams, they would have given the Cubs a run for their money back then.

Too bad that stadium is one of the last cookie cutter stadiums of that era.

Anyway.........what's the status now? Does Jerry want a new ballpark still or he's given up on the idea?

The new owners will go after a new ballpark.

Like all new owners, they will try, but I seriously doubt the deal that's in place will be repeated.

Yes, South Loop would have been a better spot, but that ship sailed a long time ago. Their current location is fine.

You under-estimate how sweet of a deal that's currently in place. New stadium means new financial arrangement. I would hope in this day in age the state and city funds that go to the G Spot will NEVER fly.

It will be a different type of deal but they will get one. It would take a lot of guts to let the White Sox leave the city. They gave DePaul a ton and they literally couldn't leave.

Current park has at least 20 years left in it.

Technically there is one. Take the Red line south to Washington, and transfer to the northbound Blue Line.

I don't think Turner Field was ever renovated as extensively as Comiskey was (not counting the initial conversion from track and field to baseball). The situation feels closer to Kauffman Stadium, where as old as the original building may be, the size and scope of the renovations should have them staying put for quite some time.

I like where the White Sox field is at for me personally, going to more Sox games last couple years, for where I come from it's easy to get too.

On the Cubs, I would like to take the girlfriend there, but like most here, heard no parking, I went like 20 years ago, thought parked close to the stadium, but can't remember.

I have no argument....they were at least able to fix / improve the Sox ballpark. I don't think there's much you can do with the Library that is the United Center.

This discussion is years away. We will see new White Sox ownership in our lifetime, but I'd wager it's 5-10 years away. Then it will take new ownership a few years to start lobbying for a new stadium.
The DePaul arena (Wiintrust) is a really light comparison at a cost of $173 Million. Target Field was $555 million. Wrigley Renovations totaled $575 million. That's a much higher price tag to sneak by, but I guess I would have bet against even the DePaul arena passing.

at the very least new Comiskey should have faced down town. Does anyone know why it faced east? Especially when at the time the only views were State Way Gardens and Robert Taylor homes? Does it have to do with wind or sun?
