yeah in fairness to myself here i really have practically zero rural experience outside of one weekend in galesburg (and i don't think that counts) and, of course, this song right here. maybe there's a sense of community out there that my sub/urban ass can't detect cuz i'm used to the white picket fenced in indifference-to-disdain of the suburbia experience**, so i just assumed that kind of thing expanded outward away from the urban areas (where say what disparaging things you want about "chiraq" or whatnot, but at least there's a sense of community there)

** = one of my more poignant moments was during a time when i was a bit residentially-transcendental and staying at PADS shelters at churches at the awesome wednesday night arlington heights/rd church they had given out free duffle bags which everyone grabbed up, but one old wily card playing ex-military man was like "you realize if you take those bags it basically identifies you as homeless, right?" -- sure enough, i was lugging one around and as i was walking through a k-mart/wal-mart/etc parking lot i see some dad walking with his little girl and he stares me down and clutches his little girl close as i walked by.

i made sure to grab a sharpie and put my name on one of the bags after that =D

The woman is a moron, and the husband definitely should face charges. The kid was outside the fucking house. What kind of person just runs downstairs spraying bullets out the door?

I think news coverage is partially responsible for stuff like this. Sensationalism is causing people to think that robberies and murders are the norm when there are actually normal interactions like this every day where people just need a phone or are selling something.

The kind that hears someone he loves scream she's in danger. I can see most men making a similar mistake. Some may be better shots. Even if legally this guy should be punished the wife should be charged with the same thing.

The wife's definitely an idiot. I just don't think she committed a crime.

On advice of my legal council, I plead the 5th amendment as I might further incriminate myself.

from what i can tell rochester is like some kind of joliet or maybe peoria in relation to minneapolis, so idk if this verifies my theory or not.

This is Rochester Hills, Michigan. It's a very affluent and white suburb of Detroit. Oakland County is more like our DuPage, I would say. Waukesha County, Wisconsin might be a better comparison.
