You get thrown out of the draw for false-starting or telling the ref/opposing player to go fuck his mother (it happens more often than you think). "Faking the drop" is actually getting ready to drop the puck but not because someone already jumped.

Nice goal by Pasternak in picking up the roller.

side note on face-offs:

they changed the rules for face-offs post-icing a couple seasons back. if you're the team against whom icing was called, the player taking the face-off has to stay. that is, they can't intentionally (or unintentionally) get kicked out of the face-off circle on post-icing face-offs. at least i think that's right?

Babcock changed his brand of gum and the Leafs score right away in the 2nd. 4-1 now.

Not sure about that one, but I know that if your team double-faults on a faceoff, it's a two-minute minor, so that reduces the margin for error if you buy a couple seconds by intentionally getting tossed. Good rule.

The Jets tried to fly to Minneapolis today but couldn't because of the blizzard. They only got as far as Duluth and then went back to Winnipeg. They'll fly down tomorrow morning for a 6 p.m. puck drop. Hope this doesn't help the Wild.

Agreed.

If Jones plays well, SJ goes to the WCF.

It's going to really suck for the Leafs after next year when all of their cap space goes to Matthews and Marner with no Cups to show for it during their cheap years and no money to spend on Dmen. They will be even more fucked than Edmonton is.

RFA's on expiring ELC's getting UFA money on that 1st RFA contract is going to give us a lockout. Just imagine if Toews and Kane tried asking for that in 2009-2010. The Hawks wouldn't have won another Cup after 2010 had that happened. Instead they took their 5 years at $6MM AAV. That's one of the many reasons I will not criticize Toews even at his current $10.5MM. 19 and 88 both left plenty of money on the table during those 5 years prior.

Very good points. I am to lazy to do this but I'd like to know the other RFAs that signed around the time of Toews and Kane's 2nd contract. I don't remember at the time that anyone was lauding them for the contracts they signed. I suspect that a little investigation will show that they were market-level contracts.

$6M when they signed their contracts was a very large number. When they signed cap was $60M.

Everyone does. Their players are cheapshot artists and their fans are whiny brats. And they'll probably win two in San Jose just because.

Wheeler scores off one of my favorite shots in hockey, the damn-near-parallel-to-the-goal-line shot, and the Jets lead early.

Game tied because Jason Zucker can jump into a scrum but Lowry can't. Horseshit call, refs in the tank for the American team already.

Jets don't seem to be as focused on putting the Wild into the boards the way they were early in games 1/2. Even turning last second and skating off after the puck instead of taking every checking opportunity.

Makes up for the soft slash call on Cullen.

What's a "soft slash"? It's a cut-and-dried call. You on the lookout for weak too many men on the ice, too?

They’ve called that all year. If you don’t ant to get called for a slash don’t hit the hands with your stick.

He didn't even hit him in the hands. Hell, even the broadcasters said it was questionable.
