I think it's a pretty short list of World Series Championship teams with a bad defensive SS. Timmay is a utility / pinch-hitter at best.

He got a hit yesterday. That type of production has certain fans swooning over the production of their comparable player.

Charlotte CF Ryan Cordell expected to miss two months or more after suffering fractured right clavicle last night.

Cordell was not hitting either though. Charlie Tilson still around?

This is a ridiculously hysterical take. Moncada has struck out a lot, but why does that mean that the entire rebuild is doomed?

Dunning, Kopech and Cease have started out well in the minors. Out of those guys plus Hansen, Rodon, Giolito, Lopez and Fulmer you have the makings of a good rotation and the start of a good bullpen.

Delmonico looks like a major league hitter. Yolmer looks like a great platoon piece in a worst case scenario. Davidson looks like he might be Adam Dunn in the DH roll. So there are some piece to work with while Eloy, Burger, Robert etc. develop.

BECAUSE HE WAS THE HEADLINER OF THE SALE TRADE. The Sox haven't had an issue with developing pitchers in decades. They need bats. If he continues to suck it will be a MAJOR setback.

Moncada is gonna be great.

That swing is awesome. It's just a pretty, compact, quick swing. And he generates a lot of power.

Yes. He's striking out a lot now. He's a kid. First full year in MLB. He's gonna figure it out.

But when he strikes out he does it by taking a lot of pitches. I don't know how many of his strike outs come on 3-2 counts but I'm convinced he's led the league in 3-2 strikouts since he got to the SOX last year. That's a good sign. It means once he figures it out he's gonna have a HUGE OBP. And he will be a 35 HR guy.

Don't be. The only big prospect who hasn't (because he is currently injured) or isn't hitting is Collins. Even Basabe and Rutherford appear to have regained form.

Do you mean the guys currently on MLB? I'm not sure there is a single one they are banking on in the future other than Moncada. I guess Anderson to a much lesser extent

If Anderson doesn't get better with the glove, they can't bank on him at all without moving him from SS.

Some still talk about Anderson being a CF.

I hold on to this too. Hope it is right. Think Anderson ultimately ends up in the OF, which will work. Lopez looks good. Giolito flashes being an ace if he can stay consistent. Love what Basabe is doing right now. Think he makes a big jump this year.

My guess is they take a high school SS in this draft which results in Anderson being a placeholder at the position.

Anderson would maybe be the worst hitting outfielder in baseball.

They have so many OF prospects he would only be a placeholder there as well. In short, Anderson's future with the Sox lasts no longer than when he hits FA, probably less.

Moncada will be fine. Beardown is mostly right. I think 35 homers might be a stretch but in that hitters haven, I guess it's possible.

The move for the Sox is to sign Machado at whatever he is going to cost. They certainly have the payroll flexibility to do so. I don't know where that leaves Anderson. Hopefully on some other team.

Probably on the Cubs then . Theo likes Hahn’s cost controlled mediocre players .

Who gives a fuck about Anderson?

They should sign Machado for sure. I'm holding out hope that the Cubs do though.

He'll be a better value than Harper, imo

Encouraging on Moncada if we have not dismissed him already as 23-year-old. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/yoan-mo ... y-working/

They'd have to find a guy who can hit at least .260+ with 10-15 HRs and play a very good shortstop. That being said, I wouldn't doubt he could handle center field.

They already have a guy like that in Sanchez. But they're dreaming on Anderson.

That a pretty interesting take about him taking a lot of pitches. A lot of good hitters took a lot of pitches especially early in the count.

It is not time to panic about anything where the Sox are concerned. They are supposed to suck this year, they do and will. Moncada is going to be good. Not just fine, but really good. But he needs to make adjustments and get to know the pitchers. Eloy is going to be another good hitter in the middle of the lineup, assuming he can stay healthy. Lopez and Giolito are really good. They need a SS. Anderson is not a good SS, or a good hitter. They need a 3B. Davidson can it the ball a long way, but he's a long drive champ trying to play in the Masters. Abreu will be too old by the time they contend again, and should be traded while he still has value, for a good prospect. Then they just need to give the young players about 2 years to see who makes it, draft well and then sign a couple of free agents that fill the needs they still have at that point. But strap it down, this isn't going to happen as quickly as some had hoped.
