Happy to see the interest in the piece by Matt Fishman. Let me note again that Danny Mac is the best host in the history of The Score. Better than me, Dan B., Mike North...add any name you want. I could have worked forever and not reached his level.

Wow, how long was he together with Bernstein compared to Mac, thought a lot longer and more success. Two things can be true at the same time, diss of Bernsie and high praise for Mac.

It will be fun to see which Score personalities like that tweet

Of note (and not a surprise) Parkins does

Gonna go out on a limb and say Goff does not like Uncle Terry's tweet.

A few years ago M&S did a wife swap with B&B. I distinctly remember the Mac & Terry show being an enjoyable listen.

My guess is Spiegs' one show with Bernstein was enough and he squashed that from every happening again.

Why is there so much hatred for Mac in the comments of that tweet?

i remember listening to terry's farewell show and thinking "man, if you didn't know the history of b&b you'd have no idea that terry did a show with dan" (outside of the hour bernstein sat in, of course) --- it was odd cuz like, you know, b&b was celebrated for what.... 15 or 20 years before terry tapped out? it was the longest running show in the history of the score and it seemed like it was show non grata during terry's farewell.

HFC were the good old days. B&B never came close to how good the HFC were.

So edgy. You take care of a special needs child other than medicating yourself?

DeCastro’s not a guy who likes long-form talk, beating up one topic for a four or five hour show. It’s not what he likes. Danny’s more bang-bang-bang a here, there and everywhere. Where Bernstein and Jason (Goff) were more on a topic for the whole show—like the Michigan State stuff. It isn’t DeCastro’s cup of tea. There’s nothing wrong with it. It’s just not his cup of tea.

I picture DeCastro listening to five straight hours of Utah Jazz talk and pouring a gas can all over himself like the guy in Airplane!

They didn't have more success.

Boers would have been a Chet style broadcaster at the beginning if he were not prompted and proded to be more by Mac. Now, North was the driving force behind the entire paradigm (yes, I suck) shift. Mac followed closely and has continued the style longer.

Mac embodied that old description of Vince Lombardi: he took his and beat yours then the next day took yours and beat his. He built (with significant help) the Score from literally nothing into a ratings phenomenon. He then went to ESPN when it was figuratively nothing and built it into a station that regularly beat the Score, despite managements wishes to remain a bland, national broadcaster.
