Tyler Chatwood and Chris Parmalee were the most successful. A kid named Michael Paulk who didn't make it past 3A was my choice as most talented. I always thought that he should have switch hit and talked to him about it when he was in single A. He was a terrific outfielder but had trouble hitting lefties and wasn't a power guy. Great kid, though, from a great family.

Actually, Tyler got drafted in the 2nd round by the Angels. Terrific kid. His older brother was a catcher/2nd baseman. Maybe 5'7" 170#. He, despite being so small hit something like .320 for a good college team.

There are just some kids and some families that you just know that they will bust their asses to the limits of their ability. Both of the Chatwood kids got about as much as they possibly could out of their abilities.

I'm confused. Isn't Keyser the guy who thinks Tim Anderson is a superstar?

Seriously, guys like Tim Anderson are the reason Ivy Leaguers have replaced baseball lifers in front offices. While the tobacco stained scout is pulling his pud over the guy you can dream on, the educated man recognizes that Yolmer Sanchez can actually get on base and field a groundball.

I will be out there as well for the third and fourth games of the Cubs/Dodgers series at the end of June. Feel free to join our group as we won't hold it against you if you cheer mightily for the Dodgers.

Welcome to the board.

Tim Anderson is such a Kenny Williams pick. He spent his entire career as GM drafting guys similar to himself. Multi-sport athletes who just needed time to commit to baseball.

Educated man Rick Hahn was the GM who drafted Tim Anderson.

Really though, Peeps. Do you think Williams had any influence when it came to picking Anderson? By the way, they finally cut Courtney Hawkins the other day.

Of course.

Kenny had said as much at the time that he was really making the calls.

So what is it that makes anyone believe that Tim Anderson will regularly be able to get on base in the major leagues or field shortstop in a reasonable manner?

That's the difference between Kenny Williams and Billy Beane. Billy Beane has enough sense to understand he was a busted draft choice and the last thing he wants to do is draft himself.

So that was all bluster? Other than pitchers about every Sox first round pick from the late 90s on seemed to be a multi-sport athlete who was going to now focus on baseball. Joe Borchard, Josh Fields, Jared Mitchell. For Mitchell he was rated about the best athlete in high school, but second round at best as a baseball player.

For awhile there the Sox had more quarterbacks and receivers than the Bears.

I'm coaching a tournament in The Mecca that set our games for late day or I would be in. I'd happily let you grab me one of those half zips though.
