playoffs baby

I think the whole Packers house of cards comes crashing down. Patricia will be defensive Trestman for the Lions. Vikings will dominate but it will leave a wild card spot for the beloved.

I'm in!

I feel good about the Bears as usual, but I wouldn't say playoffs just yet. I think they'll surprise with a 9-7 season that starts better than it ends. I'm with you in that Patricia feels like an inevitable mediocrity as a head coach, and the Packers arrow is somewhat trending down, but yeah. Aaron Rodgers.

the offense will either start off hot and then cool off as the league gets them on tape.... or they will be a mess all season.... i see no middle ground possible here.

I haven't started to drink the kool-aid yet. That schedule looks .500 at best.

The Bears are not prepared at all for injuries to WR or the OL. This is particularly bad because White and Robinson have terrible injury histories.

I think they are a worse team now than they were going into last season. They jettisoned a lot of talent and did not a lot to replace it. They will miss Sitton a lot more than I thought they would. Even if they never got much out of guys like McPhee they have replaced those limited contributions with absolutely nothing. Even the steady unremarkable Mitch Unrein is gone.

Robinson is great. I love that they got him. But Burton and Gabriel I feel are going to provide no more (realistically) than they would've gotten from the departed Meredith and likely finished Zach Miller.

In fairness, no team is really "prepared" for injuries. You can have great depth, but depth isn't something you fix in a season. If anything depth takes 3-5 draft classes, where you can mold guys who may not be stars but aren't useless - good tacklers, good hands, etc. The Bears are still grooming that. Guys like McManis, Acho, etc. It's coming along but it's not fast.

Unrein being gone is bad in that he was consistent but unexceptional. This is basically Ryan Pace giving Bullard his one and final opportunity to start and prove why he was worth a 3rd round pick. That could fail miserably, but gotta think DL will get bolstered in the draft at some point.

I think Burton will be excellent, personally, but I get the skepticism.

If Rodgers plays 12+ games GB wins the division once again

The Vikings may have peaked. They were much more dangerous with no money invested at QB and Shurmer sprinkling his pixie dust.

They have GOT to make major upgrades to the offensive line. It is talent they need. I think that the coaching of the Oline is going to be better as well as the offensive playcalling in general. Fox and company were idiots. I am optimistic though that they will improve but We'll know more after the draft, right?

Don't worry. Pace will fix this optimism in the draft.

The Vikings finally have a good quarterback and have a very good defense. They might be the best team in all of football right now on paper.

The coaching staff definitely excites me. If (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky takes a couple of steps I'll be sold.

Let's wait until after the draft before we start criticizing the depth.

Unless the Bears find a #2 WR and two starters on the offensive line in one draft, which I suppose isn't impossible but let's get real, they failed the off-season to a miserable and inexcusable degree.

I'm in!

They appear to have question marks at QB, WR, TE, O-line, LB and secondary. Their best free agent acquisition is coming off a major injury and the TE was a longtime backup. If the QB is good then the rest doesn’t matter. But that’s a big if.

I tend to agree with 8-8 just because they play such a piss-easy schedule. If they played a decent slate of teams I'd be much, much more pessimistic.

Nah. Cousins is a much better quarterback than Cutler ever was. He is going to a team with a great defense. He doesn't have to be a world beater but he is a good quarterback and can throw the ball on a dime. The Vikings are the class of the division and likely the NFC.

If the Bears have better health then the other 15 teams in the NFC, they can grab a wild card spot.

I mean we analyze all of this shit and at the end of the day, it comes down to the fucking injuries. If the other wild card contenders lose their QB in week 8 or before and we don't, then we get the damn wild card.

Or if those 15 teams lose 8 other starters besides the QB and we only lose 2, then we have a shot as well.

Nope. A healthy Rodgers will always win the division.

I'm all in. 15-1!

The thing is, do you feel Pace will succeed in the draft? If so, I assume the honest answer is that they go over .500, make the playoffs and that alone is exciting.
