I joke with you cat people a lot.

I hired a new admit on January 1. It is still an employer's market, just to set some context. She took the afternoon off on Friday unannounced to adopt a cat. She sent an e-mail on Monday morning saying she didn't know what time she would be in, if at all, because her cat was sick. She left on Tuesday only notifying one of the secretaries because of the cat.

Now we have to have words. I didn't get into law to manage people. I have a laid back approach with the professional staff as long as the work is getting completed and completed well. That just isn't an acceptable reason to me, especially for a person who has built up no equity at this place.

It also pisses me off taking the weasel move of notifying the secretary, as it was completely calculated.

That went well.

The concept of being mommy or daddy to a pet started off as little joke of pet ownership. It has now snowballed into owners really believing it is the equivalent to being parent to a human.

100% agree. I've seen siblings refer to their respective pets as "cousins". It's insane.

"furbabies" is a word.

my god parents have a 18 yr old cat who basically looks like a zombie. its emaciated with large sections of hair missing. the wife has anthropomorphized this animal to such a comical extent its like begging for death while she pays almost 100 dollars a month in medication to keep it alive.

I'm sitting here in a very nice establishment in Geneva, the Nobel House, enjoying their smoked pulled pork and other lovely food and drink.

However, as I type, there is a bluegrass version of a Pink Floyd song playing over the speakers ... whichever one on DSotM includes the lyric 'desperation is the English way' ... I think it's the first track? Not a big Floyd guy, but I know an abomination when I hear it.

I'm sitting on a couch I don't like in an average house in Downers Grove.

Spongebob is on. The newer episodes aren't as good as the older ones but they aren't an abomination.

I have a taste for ChikFilA.

And there is no earthly reason for me to go downtown or the southwest burbs

ask them for a couple packets of the chili sauce to put on it. Costs a couple bucks less and tastes better.

Yeah, that sucks. Chicago Ridge is just five miles down 95th, but it's a shitty drive most of the time.

Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way.

Time. Dark Side of the Moon.

I've never quite understood the allure of cover bands. Especially with a ground breaking band like Floyd.

I was the pope of Geneva in a past 'life'.

I typically won't do it. I did run into a pretty good cover band called think floyd and they did the whole laser show and everything and they were all right. Still... ain't nothing like the real thing baby.

Sitting at Flying High Gymnastics in Countryside. Wife and her friend planned a night out and they got tickets for some fundraiser here. Me and the other dad are supposed to take our kids for gymnastics and pizza. We take his car and he’s playing Fox News videos as he drives. It’s a drop off thing but the other dad doesn’t want to drive the 10 minutes back to Westchester. He goes back to his car and puts Fox News on his phone again. So now I’m stuck in the lobby and this thing goes from 7-10. Good thing my phone was charged.
