Get the #1 pick. Not the 7th pick. Not the 4th pick. Get the 1st pick.

I thought they'd be better. But the pitching sucks. The hitting will be about average or a tick above by the end of the year but so what? Pitching kills you.

Let's just get one more young stud in the draft and start the winning next year.

Abreau and Garcia should be traded. For whatever. 3rd or 4th best prospects on a team if that's all you can get. Just to bank the saved money on their contracts for future spending.

105 losses probably gets you the 5th pick this year. Half the league is tanking hard from the start.

Ouch. He is helping them contend for the top draft pick though. hell, we had Edwin Jackson help the Cubs in that manner in a couple seasons.

Just saw tonight's recap on MLB network, Astros destroyed them.

What's up with Farquhar? PTSD?

This is the worst Sox team in my lifetime. Worse than '69 and '70.

 Where is the improvement coming from? I've never seen a worse bullpen for ANY team. As currently constructed, there's never been a worse Sox team in my lifetime. Hey Walt, back me up.

I have no idea, but I know that it is still super early to be saying that.

If a Cub fan stated that this was the best Cub team they have seen in their lifetime you would jump on them right away about basing that off of too small of a sample size. The same holds true.

They should just keep those old blue uni's they had on the other day. Hell,at least look cool while you are losing.

I like Rick Renteria and hope they have a decent season for his sake. A new pitching coach wouldn't hurt. Don Cooper is a spy for upper management.

That means that it could get worse this season really. Think about the Cubs teams in the tank years. They had a couple years where they were somewhat competitive, then they traded away Feldman, Samardzjia, Maholm, Garza, Dempster, as well as position players. They got worse, before the young players they got in those deals were able to get to the big leagues and turn things around. The Sux may well trade Abreu, perhaps Garcia. It may well get worse. You just have to hope the GM that has had nothing but losing seasons since taking over the team, got the right guys in trades and that in a couple years they will be better again. Otherwise......well, I'll be happy about it anyway.

What is pathetic is even as bad as they are, look at their division. Last I looked they still were only five games out:) THey are in the worst division in baseball. Its really a sad team. They SOLD the Sale and company salary dump as a total redo of their team. Now what? As I see it they have maybe six legitimate players on their team and even that might be a reach.

Sale as a salary dump? If they were really looking to dump salary, they would have traded James Shields for pretty much anything. Horrible thought.

Yeah, I think that was just a bad choice of words on The Hawk's--Sale made nothing.

But man....this is getting hard to watch.

Welcome to The Hawk and welcome back to the Hawkeroo today. Having a hard time getting used to Benetti, but I think it's the team that's killing me....

I do remember a 1989 team full of prospects, aging veterans, and castoffs which floundered through the first half but turned it around in the second half and pretty much got the franchise on a roll. Of course, the next year, they obviously had a few stars arrive and some ho-hum players blossomed....let's hope that's the case. This is unwatchable.

Unwatchable, yes. The record doesnt bother me as much as the way they are losing these games.

With a lineup of Abreau, Garcia, Moncada, Anderson (who had a good 2nd half and is supposedly part of the future), and decent options like Sanchez (who has really surprised me), I thought this lineup would be solid. It's very early and maybe it will become that, but given the rotation was completely re-done and the rotation has only 2 starters who most felt had a chance to become part of the future, I expected the offense to help them win some of these games. That hasn't happened yet, and the starting rotation may be worse than even most thought.

The Cubs didn't choose to rebuild at the exact same time the Yankees are doing so. The 2020s looks like it will be the late 90s in terms of Yankees dominance.

One wild card, they are back on track to a dynasty again.

They’ve climbed up to 3rd in the reverse standings. Still impossible to believe there are two teams that have played worse baseball than this group of dickheads.

They now have Stanton for half the decade and they'll be bringing in at least Machado or Harper. Judge is only going to get better.
