So what? That 16 year old that's working pays taxes too. The 80 year old is getting money from the ponzi scheme and the best health care. Why should they be allowed to cripple future generations because they'll elect politicians who will stop any reform of their safety nets?

that's a good point, but on the other hand, 16 year-olds know nothing about nothing.

I am sure this has nothing to do with the fact that in general older voting groups are more republican and younger voting groups are more democrat

Hell lets just say that once you get to 65 you are euthanized. Would save the country millions of dollars.

It doesn't. It is simple economics. Besides I assume 80 year olds vote Democrat to protect their Social Security and Medicare.

At 18 I knew more about politics than MANY of my classmates and I still didn't know anything. I don't think a 16 year old or an 80 year old should vote.

Yes.

What a cheap way to get more votes. 16 year old voters will be the easiest to manipulate and cater to.

Fuck this.

So is 80 the age at which you lose basic constitutional rights or is it earlier and you've already lost them by then?
Nas is simply continuing his sad trend of trolling. Hes doing it more and more often now. It's a shame really. Hes basically trying to be a WWF wrestler these days. I miss the old nas. The one who had "ban me" as his pizza place. Where did that guy go off to?

Perhaps they could take a literacy test before voting?

That's just it. Most of them vote against their interests. Poor old white people voted for Trump. Because they're dumb. And racist. So racism trumps their financial situation. They're dumb!!!!

Don't take away their vote. Let their sons or daughters get their vote. So the smart people can vote twice in the interest of their old ass parents.

Once you hit 70, your offspring gets a 2nd vote. That's the way it should be.

I love older people more than folks older than 21. That being said if we're going to complain about people casting votes that affect our future we should look at older voters first. We all know Social Security and Medicare needs reform. Guess why it won't happen? Because 80% of older voters show up to the polls to make sure that it won't happen. They don't give a cap about the future.

True, but you can't blame them for exercising their rights while others don't.

It's a problem, though. My mom used to chastise her sisters for automatically no-voting any school referendum.

Darko is right. You have become nothing more than a troll around here.

It is quite sad. Perhaps your posting rights around here should be taken away. You have outlived your usefulness.

You should read my posts more. Trolling has been down most of the year. Don't try to diminish my thoughts when you can't logically refute them. Sad!

Pretending that trying to lower the voting age isn't an attempt to capture more mobilized liberal-leaning voters is just silly, Nas, come on.

You want to talk about how pensioners are just living off the government dole, where exactly does the funding for the daily operation of a high school come from?

I'm not pretending anything. I said several times I don't want to lower the voting age.

It isn't coming from federal taxes.

The notion of extending the franchise to 16-year-olds (on the ambiguity of being able to drive but not vote, maybe they shouldn't be driving?) is kinda dodgy, but then we come up with "terminate the voting rights of the elderly," which is even more ridiculous.

Let's work on getting the young people who do have the right to vote to show up first, and then worry about sophomores in high school. The millennial turnout in our most recent primary was a thousand miles past pitiful. I think the midterms this November could finally be the one to turn out the youth vote, but you'll forgive me if I'm waiting for the clock to hit double-zeroes on that one, right?

The overwhelming majority of funding comes from local government. Besides most 80 year old folks aren't paying federal income taxes. If you have an opinion share it. Otherwise have a good night.

Do you really want to go down the road of "not paying federal income taxes = no vote"? Do you?

If you have a rational thought, share it.
