Clearly trying to repair their image. I've seen more commercials in the last 4 or 5 days than I've seen... well ever.
I gotta say though facebook is a horrible company. They're spooky with the data collection.

What they do there is small fish next to what Google has on you. I don't know why Google is escaping criticism here.

(Free advice, use DuckDuckGo for searches and Opera (or better yet Tor) for browsing

Something civic-minded.

Disagree. My Fidelity app is bullish on them and recommends as a strong buy. But I will wait for one of our Jewish posters to confirm.

Look, it was either the car joke or it was posting that 'Don't Go Shitting From Trees' was the original title of that Elton John & Kiki Dee song.

They wouldn't let them lip-sync those lyrics on American Bandstand ... Dick Clark wasn't havin' none of that.

I had to take the train from Elburn to downtown last week and I think I saw Facebook adds at every stop on the way.

Facebook is great.

Facebook, Google and others have been collecting solid data about you and your habits for well over a decade. Don't fret over it.

This is 100% true, and I still trust them more with my data than I trust the government.

i sat through a Google EDU presentation in TX this past winter. 77% of all students in public k12 school districts have Google Apps for Education logons. 80% of all teachers. They didn't specify private institutions which make up 25% of all students but i imagine its slightly less, but still around 50%.

Everything a kid googles, every document they work on, every powerpoint, everything is on Google servers. Every email even.

Google provides all of these services to schools....for free. they pay 0 dollars...there is hardly a service they can pay for.

Google continually reminded everyone at the keynote speech that their data was safe and not used whatsoever by Google for anything. That got a huge eyeroll from everyone. Get out of here. you are doing 2 things.

#1. using all that data not for necessarily marketing within those education programs but for outside them. and

#2. Indoctrinating children in Google. My generation is stuck with Microsoft as a majority and to another extent Apple. its what we learned in school so its what we prefer. we have a google domain at work and anyone who is over 35 uses outlook and sync for email. everyone under uses gmail.
