Congrats on being signed thru 2025.
Not many people can cash in that big on a single season accomplishment.
You guys think he'll ever break 32 again?

If Butler could, I think it's at least a possibility. At least I hope it's a strong one.

Thoughts and prayers.

Supposedly he lost some commits due to the long period it took to get an extension. Per some college basketball guys on Kaplan some mornings ago.

Good for him, but it just shows how timing and luck play into everything. Moser was basically a cast-off who had failed at previous schools.

Which is why he didn't get much interest by other jobs. Next year could be different if they are good again.

As long as Krutwig is there, they'll be great.

No kidding -- you win a game by 2 points, then you win a game by 1 point, then another by 1 point -- if any of those go the other way this is kind of a non-story. Maybe he gets a little bump, but that's it. However, that isn't that uncommon in low sample size sporting events -- the end result matters a lot more than the substance.

I wonder if the NCAA nominating committee let them in next year if they don't win the league tournament but still have a good season. I thought it was lousy they had to win the tournament this past season just to get in.

They had/have a kid Christian Negron who might actually have been/be the best Freshman of the bunch. He played for Larkin and was the first of the group to sign with Loyola.

Kid caught a tough break right before the start of his Senior season. He blew his knee out playing against Morgan Park in the Whitney Young Fall League 2 seasons ago. I happened to be in there that day and just felt bad for him.

Didn't hear much about him this season. If he can come back with what they already have then they should really be good.

That kid can play.

Happy for him. Let's see if he can do it more than one season. He didn't have much luck with my alma mater Illinois State who is in the
same conference and recruiting the same type of players.

They also have a transfer from New Mexico who had to sit out this season who is supposed to be good and some 6'9" freshman from Lumiere who is supposed to be a dominant defender. Couple that with the return of Custer and Townes along with the development of Williamson and I think they are poised for another conference championship season.

It's an interesting phenomenon that Moser gets so many transfers from other D 1 schools.

Was at dinner Sunday with an NBA assistant coach and asked him about Porter.

Let's leave it at he was not surprised that no other school offered him an upgraded HC job after the tourney.

It's a relatively small fraternity and these guys all talk and have worked with each other from one job or another. Interesting insight though Seacrest.

I've known him for a couple of years. He was recruited out of high school by Gar Forman. Let's leave it at...he's not a fan.

Loyola and Moser have slowly been building to this. He's been here for seven years with middling success. However, in that seven years they have moved from the Horizon to MVC, which is a pretty sizable step. They invested heavily into their athletic facilities. They were immediately competitive in the MVC and started pushing towards the top in the previous year. So there has been a logical and steady progression.

There is a flip side to the story of the run being lucky. The Miami game was up and back which either team could have won. It took a lucky shot to win but it wasn't some one in a million miracle. All of the other games they had their opponent down by double digits in the second half. The other teams were lucky to get back in to the games. The truth is they probably should have beaten Michigan and played for an NCAA championship.

I'm not a guy who thinks "OMG we just have to have Moser." However, it is pretty apparent that Loyola is a system team, which has to be attributed to coaching. He outcoached some pretty good coaches in the tournament.

I have watched more talented Loyola teams of the past couple of decades squander what they have against worse competition. I'm please there is finally one that overachieved.

He did a nice job this past year, no doubt. I have a friend who is the sports editor as a newspaper and who covered Moser when he was at ISU and beyond. He also has a lot of friends in Chicago media. He basically said the same thing Seacrest's guy said. There are a lot of people who aren't big fans of Moser's. But I agree with you that he has to get credit for this year... that was a very well-coached team.

When he got Milton Doyle from Kansas that was a shock. I know Emanuel Dildy (Tracy's nephew) was working the Public League for him really hard before he left for Mizzou a few years ago. They definitely beat the streets for kids.
