You need a FOID card to be "really interested in guns"? In none of the reporting posted here has it been said that the anonymous tip said the kid possessed firearms.

correct, if you're going to strictly use the information from the article.

i'll go ahead and assume there are a lot more details not included. you should too.

"interest in guns" as opposed to "possession of guns" is a pretty big detail to leave out of the reporting, don't you think?

Its tricky. I'm having a hard time believing that the batf was interested in someone due to a tshirt. He had illegal weapons. They should have been seized based on his lack of credentials. Now your trolling was about the NRA and you know that.

To the best of my knowledge, the two primary ways to solve the gun issue according to the NRA:
1) Add significantly more guns to the situation.
2) Have law enforcement catch bad people with guns prior to the act based on the clear warning signs that are almost always present after the fact.

That is what happened here.

What was the "clear warning sign" in this case?

I'll wait until he shoots up a school and then tell you.

Heck, I'm not even pro-NRA, but that's largely because I cannot get behind their support for Trump vs. Gary Johnson and also because I'm appalled by their pro-police stance (especially in the case of Philando Castile). Part of the reason I am so adamantly pro-gun is that I am anti-police.
