Avengers, Black Panther, Green Lantern, Captain America, ect. ect. - I've seen none of them.

I just don't care about the genre at all. I watched Iron Man. Meh Enjoyed the Batmans back in the day.

Does anyone else feel this way? Is it an age-thing?

I had a massive comicbook collection as a kid and can't believe how those characters have exploded on the big screen. Having said that, the glut of comicbook movies has been overwhelming. I'm waiting for that bubble to burst but it looks like Marvel at least can do no wrong. DC movies have not been critical successes for the most part but they still bring home a chunk of change, too.

Agree 100%. No desire to see any of them.

Some of them are average while others are truly great. There are so few movies in general that are really good these days.

I've never read a comic book either. I just was hooked from the first Iron Man.

Couldn't agree more, I've seen very few and they all kinda sucked.

I've seen some of them but I honestly don't enjoy them that much. I loved Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy.
Guardians of the Galaxy has been ok but I never knew anything about them as a kid. I haven't seen any of
the new Spiderman's since Tobey Maguire played the role. I've seen a few Avengers but don't care for them much.
Never really followed the X-men although I did see some of the Wolverine movies and Logan since I was a fan as
a kid. Just mostly mindless entertainment in my opinion. I haven't seen a super hero movie in the theater in many
years.

Edit - I did see Deadpool on demand at some point but I don't get all the love for that character either. The movie was
mildly amusing I guess.

They aren't the best but I would start with Iron Man 1 and 2 since it goes in order and it helps to have seen what started it all. Iron Man 3 may be the weakest of all of the movies they made though which is why they didn't again. I think most people consider Captain America to be the best of the single character movies. I like the Thor ones a lot too but I've liked them all. Gaurdians of the Galaxy is also completely different and had yet to merge into the storyline of The Avengers and both those were great.

It's best to watch them in order though if you are going all the way to the actual Avengers movies since they do follow a storyline among all the movies besides Deadpool though some movies like Ant-Man or Dr. Strange are only to introduce a new character. The Avengers movies have all been pretty great.

If you really want just two movies then do Iron Man 1 and Captain America: The First Avenger but in reality it would be best to watch the 5 movies that lead up to the first Avengers movie as they do build off each other.

What I find interesting is how Marvel has great Movies and okay if not bad TV product. While DC is the reverse.

There are some I just will never see, no matter how well reviewed. Ant Man is an example. I have no interest in that. I don't really care for the Thor movies, although I enjoyed the cartoon as a kid. Green Lantern sucks. The Superman movies have done nothing for me. The Spider Man reboots of reboots are ridiculous and I refuse to waste my time on principal.

I like the dark movies. The Dark Knight movies are excellent, although they fade in to memory with that load Affleck taking the role. Captain America movies have been great. So have the Iron Man's

I can take or leave the comic book movies. If my kids are excited to go, I will take them. My movie going has shrunk to about once every 2-3 months now. I rarely devote 2+ hours to watching a full movie at home.

I more or less gave up on the Marvel films after Avengers. It's Disney so they are going to be geared more towards kids anyways. I personally like darker stories so give me the Nolan Batman trilogy any day. I've always liked Batman films as they have a noir feel to them.

I wouldn't write that book yet as DC's TV offerings have all gotten quite stale. I'm a diehard and this year I quit Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow. I watch Flash, but even I acknowledge that's pretty horrible. Supergirl is pretty meh as well.

Marvel TV has Legend which was great first season, not so sure about this season. Also has Jessica Jones which is better than anythign DC has put on the small screen. ALso, I didn't watch it, but I heard Agents of Shield was good for a while.

you're missing out on some great movies. Ant Man, Spider-Man Homecoming, the latest Thor movie.....all really good, especially the last two.

Marvel movies are comfortably formulaic, but some other infinitely better than others. The worst are easily:

  • Thor 2: It loses the 'fish out of water' charm of the first, takes itself too seriously, and the stakes/villain
  • Ant Man: Some alright moments, but the trailer was better than the movie
  • Avengers Age of Ultron: Bloated mess that had a couple excellent scenes, but couldn't tell an engaging story

The DC universe movies are almost entirely shit, however. Man of Steel had the potential to be really good, but completely lost itself in the pretentious dark and colorless void that is Zack Snyder. Batman v. Superman was like watching two CG elephants fuck in between cuts to giant explosions. Suicide Squad was hackneyed garbage. Justice League was a cinematic abortion.

what about "gotham"? i've heard nothing but raves for that show.

i don't know that you need to see any of the movies if you're going to go into them with a biased opinion that you're not into the genre. but if there is one movie that could change your mind, i'd go with the GOTG films. "winter soldier" is great but i think seeing the 1st captain america movie might be required.

I just missed the boat early on with these Marvel movies. I feel like the ship has sailed at this point.

shoot, forgot about Gotham. Gotham is actually really good. They did a great job with the cast choices for the various villains. It's not connected to the CW DC shows as its a FOX show. FOX also did a pretty good job with Gifted (Xmen off shoot) this year.

The car chase involving Nick Fury alone makes the movie a pick above the rest. There are a lot of great action scenes in the movie.

If all you've seen is the first Iron Man in the last ten years I think you've missed out on just how much better the story telling and visual effects have continued to improve. Especially in the last few years.

Maybe it's an age thing for you. These films are single handedly keeping theaters alive. They deserve some respect imo.
