He wasn't asked to move because he was black. He was asked to move because of a regular who requested the table.
Reading the article closely it seems he wasn't asked to leave until he refused to wait for another table or move to another table.

Maybe. If they are kicking them out of their restaurant for a white patron and calling the cops on them for trespassing then it's such an over the top reaction that it is fair to consider it may be a factor.

Ejection for lawful reasons can happen at any time, service being "extended" or not. Just because a restaurant sat someone at a table doesn't mean they are bound to deal with all that person's shit. Once a person is asked to leave the premises, their refusal to do so and remaining presence constitutes "trespassing".
