So they werent told they wouldn't be given a table, they were asked to move to a different table.

Correct.

Could it be the manager would rather have the couple sit at a 4-spot and give The Regular the primo 2-spot, rather than the manager "extending service" to the couple only to let fly with his evil racism after they had been seated and served something? Which is more reasonable to believe?

Why did the manager say he didn't like a person he supposedly didn't know?

Because he's a pinhead in Plano who had his limited sphere of influence challenged?

...or it was racially motivated which you fail to accept as plausible for some reason.

If they ordered prior to being seated, then no service was actually given outside of being seated.

Where did the drinks come from - across the street? I don't understand what you're trying to get at. It reads like you're suggesting that, because it was just drinks ordered and received, that no actual service was rendered.

If you were just going to try to answer for me why even ask me the question? Not-racism is more common than racism, way more common. Thus, it is more reasonable to presume the manager wasn't being racist than to believe he was asking the couple to change their seats because they are black.

That Rosa Parks lady shouldn't have been so uppity and just moved to a different seat.

And yes, when a proprietor asks you to leave the premises and you refuse, you are way more likely than not trespassing

It's reasonable to think that the black person he was kicking out of his seat for a white person in a prime location who he "didn't like" was possibly racially motivated. A manager of a nice restaurant is trained to be mindful of these types of things and how to handle moving a patron. This guy didn't care at all about that and went almost immediately into a personal attack on the person who was being wronged.

If had stayed calm and given rational explanations for the actions then you may be right that it may not have been racially motivated. The managers actions open up the door to thinking otherwise though.

The couple were told that they wanted to give the 2-seat table to a regular and would be given another table. Is that not rational enough and if not, why?

When the couple respectfully said no it went to a much different place.

The real DB here is the "regular". STFU about what table you get. Who demands that people move tables?

Whether the restaurant has a right to do what they did is one thing, but you still can't deny they handled this horribly. The manager should've been comping them on stuff while requesting that they move. In the end this place deserves whatever backlash they are facing here. Just as with United Airlines and that Chinese doctor. They had the right to bump the passenger, but once he's seated, doing so is just morally wrong and the company needs to make an enticing offer to get the person to willingly and voluntarily move.

This would've been so easy for the restaurant to properly handle if their staff was not completely retarded.

I'm pretty sure I covered that when I referred to the guy as a 'douche-canoe'.

and with the threat to call the police (you know our jackbooted pieces of shit) it could've gone that direction or worse.

So it is more about how the manager reacted to their refusal than it is the manager offering a rational explanation for the move? Why did you say "if the manager had done [x]" if you were just going to not accept me pointing out he had done [x]?

This is a situation that anyone with basic people or customer service skills could've navigated. The manager is the one who escalated the situation when it probably could've easily been resolved with comped food and drinks. Even fucking Chili's managers could handle this situation better. This place handled it poorly and they deserve to be raked over the coals for it.

Dude is very clearly a piss poor manager, as he turned loving up a regular into calling the cops on another customer.

It's about the whole thing. I understand you can "request" for a customer to switch tables. It has happened to me before. I understand that they are even allowed to kick out anyone they want for legally acceptable reasons.

However, when you look at why the people were being moved/kicked and how the manager made it personal and how they called the cops it leads you to believe that other things may have been at play. Even the concept of kicking someone out because a "regular" wants to sit in a noticeable part of the restaurant is questionable and it is only more questionable given how quickly the manager went to "I don't like you".

It's ok to think that someone in an interaction with a black man may have been at least somewhat racist.

The correct way to handle this is to apologize, ask them to move to another table and offer to buy the couple drinks or desserts for their trouble. If they refuse you leave them be, explain the situation and apologize to the regular and offer him drinks. If he is unwilling to accept this and threatens to never come back then screw him. Thats life.
