My IT guy was raving about using his thumb print to open his phone the other day. I informed him that it is not protected by the 1st amendment. His jaw dropped. Not to mention, I am sure that shit is sent to the government.

What they are referring to is police are legally allowed to unlock your phone through biometric against your will by force. Courts ruled that because the suspect wasn’t compelled to give his password it wasn’t unconstitutional.

I recall a case of a college girl being forced to unlock and then having nudes from her phone texted to other cops and passed around.

And this is why most of America is dumb.

We are also referring to the ability of the NSA to bulk collect data you provide to your wireless carrier. This is what PRISM was. There is no reason to think they would not do this with biometric data you place on your phone.

I've been catching most of it. The 3rd and 4th seasons were when the show was at its best, and the conspiracy alien plot lines were more intriguing. They just went nowhere.

While I think there is a too much police misconduct that goes unpunished I'm not going to be worried about a DNA scan of a serial killer being caught by a database of DNA.

They use it today to catch a serial killer, but do you trust police officers to continue to limit it to that? I'd say history has proven that government thugs will sell it to the public as being used for noble purposes and then abuse that power and use it for nefarious purposes.

There have been numerous indications that people have abused their power at the NSA by tracking ex-girlfriends. Facebook is the same way. So if their is now a DNA registry who is to say that law enforce can just say we found their DNA at the scene? Can most suspects afford to have experts to refute that? It's virtually an ironclad conviction.
