Do you guys think Rentaria finishes the season as manager? I know no manager could win with this squad..and Happy has such a positive attitude and is a great teacher...but I think alot of items are falling through the cracks.

You’re right no one could win with this team but even I didn’t think they’d be this bad but unfortunately i think PR is here for this year and probably next year too. They actually think he’s teaching them the right way to play the game.

I applaud him trying to get guys to hustle to first base, but they aren’t doing anything particularly well. I dunno, he seems like a loser.

Nah, but I think it would be wise to can him after the season at the earliest - and the latest.

Who do you hire to replace him? And why would they want to come here knowing they probably won't be here if/when the Sox get good?

I'd bring back Guillen at seasons end.

A mean spirited and sarcastic douche may not be the best choice to grow the talents of young players.

I love AJ but I would rather have him take Hawk's place in the broadcast booth.

If they fire Renteria and hire Ozzie tonight they will make the playoffs.

AJ is going to be a great manager and this organization really needs a hate to lose guy.

Ozzie will never manage again.

Guillen used to destroy young players when he was with the Sox. He is not who they need.

I think there was a young guy in their minor leagues who has won a few awards as a manager and I wouldn't be surprised if he is on their short list when Ricky meets his end.

You have to remember JR both with the WS and Bulls, he refuses to negotiate with agents for non players. That is why they never get experienced guys with options. Both teams are usually employing first time field and general managers.

My guess is either Omar Vizquel or AJ. Gotta be a reason why Vizquel is with all that talent.

If that is the case, and I'm afraid you're right, then this rebuild is not serious and this franchise really has officially thrown in the towel.

This is true.

Who was the last Bulls coach with NBA experience?

Last White Sox coach was Jeff Torborg, who had a little over a year experience in the 70s, didn't manage for 10 years, and then took the White Sox job.

The experience of the manager is the key to all rebuilds.

Wrong. Rick Renteria was an MLB manager previously.

Excluding the ex-Cubs trash, of course, who managed for a single season before the Cubs found him useless.

Excluding the current manager who has experience as an MLB manager, the last one was Torborg.

I'd hardly consider keeping the seat warm for a single season "experience". But, whatever gets you to sleep at night.

A manager is worth 2-3 wins at most in either direction. Hahn/Kenny need to worry about fielding a team that can win north of 78 games before the manger becomes important.
