I'd bring back Guillen at seasons end.

A mean spirited and sarcastic douche may not be the best choice to grow the talents of young players.

You want a nice guy or a winner?

Guillen used to destroy young players when he was with the Sox. He is not who they need.

I think there was a young guy in their minor leagues who has won a few awards as a manager and I wouldn't be surprised if he is on their short list when Ricky meets his end.

You have to remember JR both with the WS and Bulls, he refuses to negotiate with agents for non players. That is why they never get experienced guys with options. Both teams are usually employing first time field and general managers.

This is true.

Who was the last Bulls coach with NBA experience?

Last White Sox coach was Jeff Torborg, who had a little over a year experience in the 70s, didn't manage for 10 years, and then took the White Sox job.

He is very open that he will not negotiate with a agents for non players. I seem to remember when Skiles was working on his second contract this became an issue. It shows you the kind of person JR is. He know he is at an advantage as a negotiator as he is a master of it even among people who do it professionally. It's kind of evil for him to do it with someone who has no experience. I've always contended that when he knows talent is represented by an attorney that it is an ethical violation for him as a lawyer to be contacting the person directly. But, such is life. No one else makes the argument.

If you remember though he tried to do that shit with Horace Grant and Scottie Pippen. I have a feeling the union shut that shit right down. GM and field managers don't have the union to protect them.

Fuck that. This goof is more concerned about how they play rather than if they win or lose. This is the big leagues. There are no trophies for participation. No awards for effort. It's all about winning and losing and all Papa Ricker is teaching them is how to be good losers. They need someone who will instill a winning culture and chew some asses when they lose. They need a manager not a grandfather who will put his arm around them and tell them everything will be ok.

Ventura never chewed anyone out, and you loved him.

If you expect people to take you seriously, try taking Engel and 'Timmay' to task here when they fuck up, which is just about once every game.

You install a winning culture by installing better players.

Better players are on the way. A better manager should be too.

Let's hope this includes the CF and SS positions.
