I used to like this board because there was always some lively conversations about all kinds of topics, not just sports. Many of you guys are really intelligent, witty, ironic, sarcastic, as well as good writers. But this kind of shit makes it less fun. Everyone is entitled to an opinion but the mean spirited points of view are just boring. I would log on to find something funny or thought provoking but that seems to happen less and less. Meh, the problem is it used to mostly be people being douchebags about sports and media who would sometimes be douchebags about politics. Other than ltg, being douchebags about sports and media is mildly amusing even when you're on the opposite side and you could ignore the douchey political posts because there was so much other content. Now it's people being being mostly douchebags about politics and every once in a while posting about sports.

"The Hawk" is a good example. Started out by posting a few interesting sports thoughts, but now it's mostly the same uninteresting partisan hack posts everyone makes in political threads. I mean, whatever, but why the fuck would you join a sports message board to mostly post about politics? Plus, this board has like High A level political posting, maybe AA on a few subjects. Political posting here is padding stats and beating up on nobodies.

If you ever get a good answer on that, be a chum and clue me in, please and thank you.

Julie Dicaro is by far the longest running thread on here and for the life of me i will understand why (nor am i trying) but it is. 99.9% of the people in this city have never heard of her yet she moves the needle like no other on here. Probably should start a drinking game as to whether her thread will be bumped whenever click on that forum.

Trump has to be a factor. He has riled up so many people who were never political.

For me, I am very interested in sports, business and politics. I have shown my failings on topics like good beer, music, pop culture, pro wrestling, golf, and new home purchasing (had to put that in there).

But it is strange that this board seems obsessed with politics and DiCaro.

Not to mention Drinky's sex life. This is in line with what i noticed when i first signed up here.

People were much more concerned with backstage gossipy stuff than they were the content of the shows. It seemed as if everyone was auditioning for a non existent Program director gig.

Even now when you see a show started thread it will be something about the inner workings/backstage stuff or about something non sports related. No one cares what the hosts think about sports for the most part.

There's also an issue with brain dead hot takes taking the place of real content. Not that this website is in any way on par with The Onion, but around the time The Onion moved from Madison to New York their content started to become more mean-spirited. It was mostly as humorous as it was before, but it just wasn't as fun to read.

You have to admit the one they ran today about BiBi declaring a national day of mourning for the fence that was damaged yesterday was pretty funny.

There are more people willing to post about politics, and those who do are volume posters, it seems.

Plus Chicago sports sucks and sports talk radio has been replaced. We are all also older and probably have less time to listen to sports radio (or care to).

I think the board is at its best when we're discussing dumb topics like wearing sports coats on airplanes or banging Caillou's mom or pedophilia.

I haven't paid any attention to politics in the last 2-3 months and it feels good. That shit just makes people cranky. I knew when my gf told me I blacked out and started yelling "fucking liberals" at the wall that I needed to quit cold turkey. Not booze, just politics.
