Whoever did the casting for this film deserves an award.
It's not just that Rami Malek looks just like Freddie, the rest of the actors look just like the rest of the band.

I have my reservations. I remember Sasha Baren Cohen dropping out and saying he didn't like the direction of the movie. The band(not Mercury) wanted it to be more about them and how they dealt with Freddie's death.

Movies like these are probably tough to do. Look at Stone's The Doors. Good movie but many had problems with it. When doing a biopic or whatever these are called there are a ton of places you can screw up or go down the wrong road.

i think they were afraid cohen was going to be too goofy with it. he wanted to focus on mercury's bizarre and wild side, including some embarrassing stuff the band didn't want to exploit. probably would have been the movie mercury would rather have made; but it won't fly in the mainstream.

malek's face is more narrow than mercury's was. but i like that they're keeping the original audio tracks for the musical parts. unless you can perfectly replicate the voice, don't try it.

Maybe the most overrated band of all time.

How does anyone hear that line "I want to ride my bicycle" and not say out loud "this is fucking gay"?

My understanding is that is exactly what that song means.

When they where doing Rocky 2 Stallone approached Freddie to let him use We Are The Champions as the Theme song,Freddie told him to basically fuck off as he did not want his stuff associated with that type of film. So We wound up with Eye.

Kind of funny that a few years down the road he let his music be used in Iron Eagle.
