2016 era cubs will go down as disappointments like the 85 era bears. 1 ring, that’s no more of a dynasty than the 2005 White Sox who caught lightning in a bottle.

If someone has called the Cubs winning ONE championship a dynasty, they are obviously crazy.

Agreed. Dodgers series may even be worse when you consider the rosters and youth of the 2015 team.

Like I said 3 months ago,this team could have used a John Jay. Him and LaStella hitting 1-2 would have been great table setters for the power guys that follow.

but hey, do i need to type in dan bernstein's voice to tell you that the playoffs/tournament are/is a crapshoot and technically all of your world series winners are good teams that caught lightning in a bottle? this is why european soccer separates the proper season from the tournament/s and you can win a double or a treble(triple) if you win your domestic regular season league alongside one (or more) of the tournaments (which pop in for occasional weekends during the proper season).

radical concept out here, i know, as we're literally sold merchandise that it's all about october.... but IIRC the baseball playoffs (outside of the actual world series itself; winning the pennant used to mean something that almost warranted a parade) were cooked up by the minor leagues to try and come up with a way to get more people to care about the last couple'a months of the season in a post-war situation.

i've come around to thinking that the best record in each league (or at least all of baseball) should warrant a parade. now i know the president's trophy isn't worth a parade in hockey, but after 162 games are you gonna tell me that, example, the 2001 mariners didn't deserve a parade for being the best team in baseball for damn near half of the calendar year? IIRC they got unceremoniously dumped out of the playoffs by the yankees and as such they're just a minor footnote for that season (as we all remember the diamondbacks vs yankees' suitably epic world series) but i'm pretty sure they won a record/ish # of games (at least relative to 162) but yeah.... hey even in that situation these 10s cubs aren't even gonna warrant a parade... they get their low to mid 90s and get a ticket to the dance and they're good.
