Hope you really enjoy watching your kid run the state races. There's just something wonderful about track and field.

Two of my three kids got my athletic ability. My oldest daughter went to state in cross country and track. My son went to state in cross country, track and basketball.

My youngest daughter got my wife’s lack of athletic ability. She’s a very talented musician and artist. So, she has that going for her, which is nice.

Is that the equivalent of a participation trophy?

I don't know. I hope not. There were kids in her class that didn't get any recognition, and my kid's grades speak for themselves as far as High Honor Roll goes....

My friend developed esophageal cancer several years ago. He recently went to Mayo due to complications from it and had an expensive procedure done. He is mid50s and has always worked in a profession that is dying so health care expense is tough with his shitty insurance. Anyway, he found out recently that an anonymous donor wanted to pay for the procedure in full. I guess Mayo has a stream of donors who will just ask to pay for random procedures and things. Pretty cool.

Congrats old man.

We went downstate four straight years with one of our daughters for track. My wife and I have talked about going to watch the finals when we reach our golden years. It's some of the best of high school sports in this state.

He got it from acid reflux.. Right? They put a piece of pvc in his throat?

My previously mentioned daughter loved HS track. She was a hurdler. I think the best part of it for her as opposed to soccer and basketball is it was just her. No other worries to have or control. Just her and whatever best she can muster against the world.

Probably that combined with other things. He was a very heavy drinker and smoker, but he quit both after all this happened. They didn't put PVC in there... as I understand it, they took a piece of stomach or intestine or something and used it in place of his esophagus? I don't know if that's 100% right, as I don't press him on the details, but that's the gist of it. He is lucky. Most people die within a year or two from that type of cancer.

I know one of the kids on the Burlington Central team that runs that. I always see that school's group in the newspaper. He plays CF on our travel baseball team. He can literally cover all three outfield positions from CF. He is that fast and quite white!

He got bottled up in the pack. He went from second to last to fourth in his heat. That was good enough for fourth in the state. He was disappointed but ran a good race. I’m proud of him.

Don’t doxx me, bros.

We played a backyard show in Little Village on Saturday night and for the first time in my life I got a true encore.

I've played in a bunch of bands and played a lot of shows and I've never before gotten what I would call a legitimate encore. Sure, we stopped playing and waited for some tepid applause before doing one more in a rote way just like the bands we would go see as kids did, but I've never been in a band where the place went so insane I thought we better play one more.

My wife made the local paper this morning including a photo. She helped found a charitable group that donates to local non-profits on a quarterly
basis. Pretty cool that they got some recognition for it.

My daughter is batting .750 with an .821 obp and our team is 8-1 in what was supposed to be a learning year (11 yr olds playing 12u for first time)

Oh and is going to be on the honor roll again making it 4 out of 4 this year at her new school.

That is awesome. Enjoy every moment. I know you hear this from everyone but it goes by way too fast. My oldest is a sophomore in college now and it seems like just yesterday she was playing softball at that age.
