Challenge accepted Chief. It was on the weekly show he does with Mac and Parkins and the source was impeccable as it was himself. He described themselves as being as close as cousins and very like family. So legally and genetically not cousins but I am ok with the statement.

Addy, Caratini and someone like Jose Albertos might get it done.

I'd pay it, and probably more. Orioles have a lot of OF and pitching prospects, but are sort of barren in the infield. I'd consider Addy and Happ also, but I doubt Theo wants to give up two cost controlled position players for a possible rental.

Well obviously they didn’t but that plus two minor leaguers was the offer.

I assume you forgot to mention that the White Sox must also have offered to take Chris Davis and half of his salary in that deal?
And unless those two minor leaguers were Blake Rutherford and Dane Dunning or similar... not sure a $7M overrated OF soon to be a free agent and a 1B no matter how good that will be a FA that same year are going to get it done for a rebuilding franchise.

probably the perfect opportunity to rid yourself of Schwarber to a team that might actually find him attractive but I think any deal would center around Russell. It seems logical from all sides.

I don't know how you price the guy. I cannot believe he will sign without entering FA. While his ability is worth almost anything you could give up, its just half a year of service.

Agreed. That said, if I thought a high-quality bat was all this outfit needed (as far as 'big' concerns go), I think I'm fine trading Schwarber & Russell and play poker with next year's negotiations.

Yup. There is no position player in baseball worth as much as some of these teams are willing to pay. They never live up to the contracts. Even if they maintained their level of play, it often doesn't justify the contract.

I believe Machado may be the rare one that does. He's so young still, so good. Miguel Cabrera worked out.

I'd be really happy if the Sox gave him $32 million a year for 8 or 10 years and just stuck him at short.

just go to fangraphs and see what the guy is "worth." At the end of 10 years compare it to what he was paid. When he turns out to have generated $80MM in value and you paid him $300MM, that is a problem.
