Maybe Hub dislikes Mac because he's not a flaming lib who wants to spend all day discussing Colin Kaepernick's injustices

Bernstein once told a story about Zack.

A couple of the SCORE shows were at Bears training camp.

So the guys from the two SCORE shows were at the bar that night. And, like a high school kid, Zack didn't acknowledge the 4 guys from the shows or their producers. Wouldn't sit with them. Wouldn't have a beer with them. Zack hung out with Joniack and Thayer the entire time at the other side of the bar. The distinguished/high brow kids. Bernstein said he saw Zack peering at them hoping they wouldn't come over to his table.

That makes sense to me. That sounds like Zack.

So I'm not shocked that Zack was a dick to Mac at the Cubs game. He was probably embarrassed that Pat Hughes saw that Mac tried to greet him. Didn't want Pat to think he was friends with white trash.

Sounds like Zack isn't Mac's definition of a "hang-out guy".

Yes. Mac & Spiegs show started off rough as they didn't gel instantly. Similary to how a Mac disciple in Parkins took time to gel with Spiegs.

mac made some reference to Mike North being responsible for blowing up the HFC and the rest of the score lineup. Mac then made a quip about having to work with jiggs that seemed to be a shot a t jiggs... the latter didnt make sense to me

Twice before. Let's remember that he was a producer of the HFC in its heyday. I would have to believe that Dan also had a hand in Spiegal getting the national gig.

This has been discussed many times here. North destroyed the golden era of the Score, both the Monsters and HFC. He went in to the PD and demanded the breakups. I think he wanted to go solo with the ultimate goal to have a right wing political and sports show.

Mac was then paired with Jiggs, which never gelled.

He said something like he was on some sort of less than equal plan. I assume do to his CBS TV at the time Jiggs would cut out of the show at 6 and Dan had to work until 7. Pretty much said he fucked off on purpose during that hour.

yeah, this is Mac. Fickle, sometimes relatively unstable Danny Mac. Maybe things don't work out with Parkins and Mac asks to be paired with a new partner. Or Mac goes off the reservation again, leaving an opening to replace Mac as Parkins partner. I suppose in the latter case Mac isn't necessarily consulted about his replacement. But it couldn't hurt to be on good terms with the various full-time show hosts while chilling in the WSCR bullpen.

If that pudgy face pile of human waste wants to blame someone for why he is where he is

LOOK in the mirror, fuckface

you dont bring the ratings, you don't bring the ad dollars, it's fuck you

you either close or you hit the bricks pal

And you know what you'll be sayin', a bunch of losers sitting around in a bar: 'Oh yeah, I used to be in sports radio. It's a tough racket.' (He displayed a large stack of red index cards tied together with string) These are the new leads. These are the Glengarry leads. And to you, they're gold, and you don't get them. Why? Because to give them to you is just throwing them away. (He handed the cards to Williamson (Kevin Spacey)) They're for closers. I'd wish you good luck, but you wouldn't know what to do with it if you got it. (To Moss) And to answer your question, pal: 'Why am I here?' I came here because Mitch and DeCastro asked me to. They asked me for a favor. I said, the real favor, follow my advice and fire your f--kin' ass because a loser is a loser.

what a classless slug, talking out of both sides of his sara lee filled piehole, Im all peace and love, Im gonna take the high road, then his dinosaur comments. The fact that the show and Mac is slamming his fat fucking ass all over the super slab with the Jurassic Park theme is just funny as fuck all, I laugh every time Mac or the producers reference it.

Then Mac offers to meet up with him, and the shitbag gives him the high hat. Again, how short sighted can you be, careers take decades, to let a bump in the road ruin all of your goodwill all you accomplished, the ego on this guy amazes me. It is his east coast ego, a midwesterner would just pull himself by the bootstraps and get back to climbing that hill, but old Kent Dorfman Spiegel is too good for that. Hes better than that.

hey speegs fuck you

I hope you watch sports talk live with the lights off pounding a baskin robbins ice cream cake, good riddance to bad rubbish.

Spiegel had two, maybe three straight years of ratings success, and was hammering the competition in his time slot across two different partners. I dont think he was bumped because of ratings or inability to sell time on his shows, which is why I say he got hosed.

Then enlighten the rest of us how a show dominating the competition in the key demo, and dominating the time slot overall, for years, has trouble selling lucrative ads because of one of the hosts, Pastor Radio.

I respect where you are coming from in this. The decision makers certainly did not agree with you. I would argue that nobody but McNeil has a historical, documented record of rating sucesses that comes close to anything that Rambin Grimace ever showed.
Mac has a boatload of Q rating, going back to his work with Johnny B and Dahl and his work as an original WSCR host with Terry. I would ask you to name anytime he ever failed, all the guy does is win win win. Terry called him the best in the medium ever,
I dont think he was talking out his ass on that one. He has successes despite his self destructive behavior, his angst and his issues........ why? Because he is honest with the listener, he is an open book, he holds back nothing.

He made Jurk and Harry Teinowicz a book, how fucking hard is that? No surprise that you bet on the horse that consistently is in the win place or show. And for this bag of cookie dough to spit in his face like he did is just wrong. I understand he feels slighted, but this is show business. THE EMPHASIS IS ON THE BUSINESS!!!!!!!!

His morning show on the Drive, and I think Mac himself would admit he misplayed that one.

That wasn't sports talk but it was a lazy move by a recovering Mac in my opinion. He was running on fumes & sick of sports talk. I'm glad he's back and it is because he's a straight shooter and not a damn SJW.

Dan McNeil didn't replace Matt Spiegel. Thus, hiring Mac did not necessitate firing Spiegel.

That's very true, losing his guy didn't help (and would you look at that, they're both back at Entercom), but how soon into their run was Solk fired? I was there for the first day and quickly realized "oh, it's the Pete McMurray Show, and occasionally Mac says something." I was pulling for him on that one but it just never got going.

I would ask you to name anytime he ever failed, all the guy does is win win win.

His morning show on the Drive, and I think Mac himself would admit he misplayed that one.

How was he supposed to foresee the sacking of Greg Solk?

That's very true, losing his guy didn't help (and would you look at that, they're both back at Entercom), but how soon into their run was Solk fired? I was there for the first day and quickly realized "oh, it's the Pete McMurray Show, and occasionally Mac says something." I was pulling for him on that one but it just never got going.

I was told by an industry consultant once: "Rock-Sports hybrids never work, and nobody really knows why, but stations still keep trying them."

I took it to mean both that nobody really knows why they don't take off, and nobody really knows why stations keep trying them.

General "guy talk" can mix with rock or sports, but I guess you can't go right from one to the other. Kinda makes sense that you can't graft two niche formats together.

Mac envisioned more of a Bruce Wolf with Johnny B type presence, with an occasional opportunity perhaps to play rock and roll DJ.

Fair enough, but the problem there is that Mac is the draw and McMurray is just a glue guy (but let's be fair, a good one). I wanted Mac doing his thing and got WDRV Sports Minutes.

I would like to see Bruce Wolf pop back up at the Score, if only for the backstage drama it would cause.

You are right there, I forgot about that, I kind of consider that an outlier....

Mac had to know that shit was gonna go down in flames, but he wanted to get away from the toxicity of 670
he was never gonna get together with Terry to work until Terry retired.

so he took his ball and went home, but you were right, that was an abject failure.
