The Tribe are sub-.500. The only other tean worth a shit in the division, the Twins, are circling the drain. The Sox are better than Detroit and KC.

Go for it. Get Eloy and Kopech up here and go for it.

I think once Super 2 is over, I would expect them up.

I'll take the #1 pick instead of trying to make a meaningless run at the playoffs. Besides Lopez is the best player from the Sale and Eaton trades. I like Lopez but that isn't good enough.

So these two guys are going to completely fix the shoddy defense and terrible bullpen, huh?

Team with the worst record in baseball is not 2 players away from the playoffs.

Come on man.

That isn't true even if you are only including the players who have made it up to MLB by this date.

Who has been better? Lopez looks like he can be a stud with a little better control. He's no worse than a #3.

This notion is almost as wrong headed as clowns in the media talking about Machado coming to the Sox in a trade, as the idiots on the morning show revived briefly again this morning.

Both have been great this year.

I look forward to Pittmike and JORR responding to this take

Have you not seen Moncada? Also, Dunning and Kopech are still in the minors.

You do realize he has a similar stat line to Kris Bryant's first season, and it's early still.

Javy Baez is a future MVP and Moncada has already surpassed him

Exactly why I look forward to JORR and Pittmikes take on this.

He has not. Take a look at Moncada's first 81 games with the Sox.

They will lose out on #1 overall when Eloy and Kopech come up.

If they pick #1 anyway it means most of their prospects have been failures, and the draft pick isn't making up for that.

You guys are arguing between a young, flawed but modestly successful pitcher and a young, flawed but modestly successful second baseman. And both have a lot of potential.

In a forum full of pointless arguments, this seems increasingly pointless.

I was talking about this season but even if we looked at their entire time here I still believe that Lopez has been better.

I haven't seen every game or every AB but I haven't seen a guy who looks anything like an MVP. He's a .244 hitter with ONLY 14 homers in 90 games and 130 strikeouts. Moncada has definitely looked better the past month but he still can't hit a lefty to save his life.

Lopez has given up 2 runs or fewer in all but 2 starts this year and has consistently looked like a top of the rotation guy ALL season.

I have and Lopez has been better this season. Also I didn't bring up guys who aren't in the majors. The reality is that the headliners of the trades haven't done much. If Moncada keeps his last month of work up that could change.

Lopez also has a 4.81 FIP and 1.7 K/BB ratio (3.8 BB / 9).

He has been fine. He hasn't been amazing. That ERA seems low considering his other statistics. He may have been 'lucky good' so far.

He walks a lot of guys but doesn't give up a shit load of hits. Reduce walks and that drops dramatically. Control is an issue for most young pitchers.

Both Moncada and Lopez do some things well and need to improve on things.

Let's say that they've been completely identical to one another in 2018.

Yeah, the peripheral stats say that Lopez is currently a bit of a scrub. Weak ass K ratio and an unsustainable batting average allowed of .213 (4th lowest in the majors). He’s owned in only 28% of yahoo leagues for a reason.

People are idiots and he doesn't play for the Cubs or an East Coast writer's favorite team.

I’m not a baseball savant but I don’t think they can win the division even if they tried.

I don’t care what the periphery numbers suggest. Lopez is/will be really good.
