Trump won't finish his term, he'll either quit or die. The Democrats will win in 2020, probably with Gillibrand, who will run to the left but not do shit as president because the real victory was electing a woman and there's nothing left to do.

This is wildly under reported. With gutless Scarborough and the plastic Mika leading the way at least 3X a week until he snapped at them once he didn't need them.

God I hope not. She's a pure opportunist willing to throw anyone under the bus to obscure the fact that she's never done or stood for anything.

Trump the cultural warrior still Trumps anything economy related and as I recall Bush was reelected even as he presided over a weak economy and so have others.

Trump didn't win because of his economic message in my opinion and i don't think he will be reelected because of it either. We shall see however.

The culture warrior got him on TV and built a small base that was maybe 30-40% of the party. That was enough for the nomination with winner takes all races. That didn't win him the general election. Economics did that. He won voters who in the blue wall states who had voted for Obama twice.

His protectionist economic message is bullshit and actually harms the economy, but it's a political winner. Free trade is good policy, but no one wants to hear that.

That is the thing that many of his supporters failed to see. Trump the businessman is a free trader. He believes in it and he has profited from it as a businessman. For him to practice protectionism would run counter to his own interests business wise. He never had any intention of implementing such practices and it was illustrated the second he added relics from the Reagan era to his economic team.

It will be deja vu in 20 also. Cable News and News in general is a for profit business lest anyone forget and Trump is big box office. It will be difficult for anyone to gain traction with non stop coverage of him being the order of the day. Doesn't matter if it liberal or conservative stations either.

How he is covered will differ but he will still be the headliner regardless of station.

It is estimated that his cable news call-ins and coverage were equal to $2 billion in paid advertising during the primary.

Without that exposure, he doesn't crack 5% in the primary. Cable news pushed him and Hillary's campaign told their friends in the media to promote him as well! Heck, you really can blame Hillary for giving us Trump.

The media should have Ron Paul'd his ass, but they played themselves.

How many decades/centuries worth of news and marketing experience could not see they were helping Trump?

Embarrassing.

Oddly, I believe Roger Stone's remarks from the weekend. If he makes it to 2020, he'll declare that he kept his promises and if nothing catastrophic happens, he'll claim himself a rousing success, state that he's tired of the swamp, wants to spend time with his family  , declare victory and quit.

Unless he wants to further delay his then pending indictments.

Wait, this shit isn't gonna end even in his second term? Hell, he might get an amendment passed and win a third.

Well she is gone now so all of the credible candidates can come on down. Let's see the anybody but Hillary candidates have at it now. Trump will defeat them also. Litany of excuses as to Hillary Clinton's role in re electing him will be the single most discussed topic on here when it happens. Guaranteed.

The prognostication on Trump in 2020 is this:

If the economy and market move ahead as they have the last 18 months or so, he wins
If the economy sputters and we enter a recession (a trade war can do that) in the next 30 months, he loses.

It's as simple as that.

I think he wins even if there is a weak economy. The non stop attention paid to Trump will drown out all of the other candidates as it did in 16.

You try and tell these news channels to roll back their coverage which has been a ratings bonanza.

They are as culpable as anything Trump did or said for him being president.

Fucking greed, man.

Yeah, CNN gave him so much coverage ever since the day he announced his bid on that ship...

I don't think she has a chance in hell, especially if the economy is strong, but let's face it . . . she's a dish.

This is a YUGE part of it. The networks all kept crying about him not taking questions and lying when he did and yet several times a day "and we now go LIVE to Donald Trump telling fairy tales that we will refuse to fact check"
Joe and Mika I think backed off when they realized the thought of Trump as POTUS outweighed their JORR level blood hatred of the Clintons.

Even now. 2 years into this shit. Flip over to the NBC News Politics page. Top line story is about Rudy saying things will be over in September..... Like Rudy is a spokesman for Mueller or has a single honest bone in his body. They are doing it to themselves.

So you are saying that people voted for Trump at least in part for racial reasons?

And you are going to say that the same was not true about Obama?
If a group is putting you down, why help them gain power?
It would be like a J E W voting for a Nazi.

Obama never made racism a part of his campaign. Trump did however.

You could trace the current platform of the democrats right back to Obama saying Trayvon could've been his son. This is very much his creation.

It is definitely true that the democrats wanted Trump to disrupt the Republicans and did not realize until it was too late that they had inadvertently sewed the seeds of their own demise.

Clinton threatened to place Tariffs on Japan too yet he was an ardent free trader.

Where is the big repeal of NAFTA that was promised? That is what i'm talking about. If he does that then I will know he means business.

Individualized tariff bills aren't anything revelatory. He promised to go after NAFTA on day one and hasn't done jack.

I find it odd that a political party which polls at 90% white nationally is the one complaining about identity politics. Is this some sort of twisted logic or what?

Prior to the election many a Republican would pontificate about how the Republicans could no longer be the party of "white men" if they hoped to win the Presidency. Trump wins the Presidency and bang that theory goes out the window.

I would have thought that to be true. The democrats have made it very clear white straight men are not welcome or considered and in some ways extends to white women. It's not identity politics people are complaining about, it's the identity itself.

I say this as a white, straight, cisgendered, stay at home, middle class, feminist that neither side has given a shit about. Both parties suck now and for all the same reasons.

Nah, only one party really sucks. Republicans aren't perfect but when they are opposed to the total destruction of a 2500 year civilization that has done absolutely impossible things, well...their flaws dont seem to matter much in perspective of the big picture.

Brother, everything you post about politics or culture is so parallel to white nationalist ideals it's kind of suspect.

I think this is an exaggeration. It may seem that way when the Republican Party is overwhelmingly the party of straight white men, but the Democrats are not exactly hostile to them. When you look at their gameplan for taking back Congress (the infamous road through Panera Bread), it's based on a lot of small business owners and Iraq veterans -- groups you would expect to be on the other team but Actually Aren't -- and the majority of them are straight white males. We joke about all left-of-center politics being taken over by militant black lesbians, but that's clearly not really happening.

Keep an eye on New York, where you can expect the party leadership to consolidate power behind straight white male Andrew Cuomo and ratfuck his opponent, white lesbian Cynthia Nixon.
