I think Clarence Thomas and Thomas Sowell and Larry Elder would probably take issue with the declaration of flat brim hats and droopy drawers as "black culture". I'm guessing ltg might too.

Ok, we can pretend those weren't references to black people if you want to.

There are many other examples. His mocking of black people liking Black Panther is another easy one that comes to mind off the top of my head.

I don't believe you can honestly say he doesn't have contempt for black people and black culture, however you choose to define that culture.

If you're gonna be as sensitive as you have been about antisemitic "dog whistling", I think to be consistent you have to extend that same sensitivity to other races. And Shapiro isn't even dog whistling. As I said before, he's been pretty transparent about his views on black people.

He’s extremely religious. Doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate a lot of his views.

It definitely sounds like he's really interested in honest debate and dialogue with political opponents!

And his point about debate or earnest discourse was lost in the sands of time with that one. It's now pretty close to impossible for me to take him seriously.

He comes across as the Bel Air Sean Hannity. Nothing more, nothing less.

Making fun of idiots who say Wakanda is what Afrifa would be without white people is not racist.

But that's not what he said. He said black people were acting like it's the greatest thing in history and then he said they should've been happy with Blade and we didn't need another black superhero.

I think the only thing that was racially relevant with regards to blacks was not the black superhero but the black producer/director (can't remember actually). I heard a number of people that were proud that they'd (studio execs) entrusted such a large project to a black director. From what i understand nothing with that large of a budget had ever been earmarked for a black director.

The sense of civic pride if it were any emanated from that. Interesting that he neglected to mention that aspect. Also caught the tail end where he bitched about having to "pay for it" so it better be good.

It was the totality of the project. It was a legit Disney financed black superhero film. Director and like 90% of the cast were black.

Also, it was a pretty good film.

Oh, I'm not making such an argument. You and I both know what he's talking about. But as I said, there are plenty of black people who feel the same way he does about those things, although RR apparently just kicked them out of the community.

I would say as much as anything that Shapiro is 30-whatever going on 60. There are guys here who have expressed that they don't care for flat brims in this thread. Who gives a fuck? They may think a kid with pants hanging low and a sideways cap looks goofy but how do they think they looked in bell bottoms or whatever goofy thing they wore that pissed their parents off?

The black community absolutely should be mocked for their ridiculous reactions to that film. They won't be, because DAS RAYCIS, but it was really ridiculous. I'm certain there are many American black who feel that way, but they too are too afraid to try and put into perspective that some Disney capeshit is not the greatest movie ever.

If you just say black people commit more crimes that's not a biased statement. It's the truth based on the statistics we have. It's fair to say those stats are likely unfair, but we've gone past this in our current political climate. If you even discuss the data then it means you are racist/right wing.

To say it's societal though is taking quite a leap because it's likely many different complicated factors. I would guess that the largest is access to wealth, but I really don't know. I believe we do people quite a disservice though to not discuss this further in an environment that welcomes honest discussion because I don't think it's benefiting anyone to see the bodies pile up.

It's good advice to listen to the data, rather than try to win social justice points or whatever you think you are doing there.
