The NBA is looking at the possibility of the same two teams in the Finals for four years in a row, regular season games have never been more desultory to the point where star players are healthy scratches on a regular basis, and every draft class sucks. This is the greatest league of all time!!

And the ratings for last year's Finals were the highest in over a decade.

Last year's draft class was strong and so is this one. Double digit increase in ratings from last season too.

"Every draft class sucks" is a huge swing and miss.

America can't stop talking about this upcoming Rockets-Hornets game. Kemba Walker commented on Lil Flip's soundcloud track that his shoes are poop-emoji poop-emoji flexed-bicep poop-emoji and then Chris Paul called him out on insta, should be a good game if they're not both DNP-CDs

"Every draft class sucks" is a huge swing and miss.

"Every draft class sucks" was the guiding principle of a major-market team until the league purged their front office.

Some teams are run by morons. This is true of every league.

I think it's funny that posters get butthurt about others liking a league they don't like but CH's post was funny.

Lebron James has nothing to do with my comment and you never ignored me anyway.

Since you are so interested in "woke" leagues explain how the NBA hasn't historically been at the forefront on socially related issues?

I know you're kidding, but I can explain why I like the sport so much.

First, the game is best consumed in person more than any other sport. There is a certain energy at a hockey game that gets lost on tv. But even on tv, the flow of the game is so much better than any other sport. There are very long stretches of fast and exciting play, a nice mix of hitting, and a lot of just miss scores. Each goal is a huge celebration because scoring is normally low.

I am not a guy that wants to force "my" sports on other folks. I never even played hockey, but I grew to love it since the days of going to Chicago Stadium.

I like hockey games in person but no sport can touch baseball when it comes to in person.

Hockey is terrible on TV because it is hard as hell to follow the puck. All you see are a bunch of guys slamming into each other and banging into walls. They don't score enough and even they do you have to watch the replay in order to see it.

I've been to a game before and thought it was cool. Hockey playoffs are good for the most part and when i watched it that would be the time that i checked in on it.

Not in Chicago. There's no energy to get lost.

Hockey has a lot going for it but the game's inherent requirement for players to subjugate the individual for the good of the whole (hockey is by far the most Marxist of the sports) makes it very hard to market. Online fell in love with PK Subban because he breaks this rule and usually gets away with it, but I feel like they sort of egged him on into being more and more of a self-promoting pain in the ass, and by the end of last year's Final, his own teammates were tired of his bullshit. I get why they pushed him, but it's the nature of the game. Dogs don't walk on their hind legs all day, either.

Well it is sad what has become of the UC. I have found each successive year to be less enjoyable with the "fans" around me giving me strange looks for cheering too loud and too often.

Yes FF, baseball is great in person too, but the differential between tv and in person is greatest in hockey partly because of the things LTG said above. BTW, as you know, baseball is my favorite sport.

It does debunk the notion that "no one cares" however.

Although not by spellcheck

Is that true? I have no idea. I would think LeBron James is more famous than Ronaldo.

James is 2 and of the top 100 most famous athletes basketball has 13, more than any other sport.

Baseball and Hockey have no players on the list.

I mean it’s not a slam dunk it’s Lebron or anything. ESPN says it’s Ronaldo and you’d think they’d give it to Lebron if it was close since they show the NBA.

So is "the most recognizable athlete in the world" an NBA player or not?
