Joe honors Americas fallen today by batting Almora 9th. RIP lineup continuity. Actually, I think he's been awful against righty pitchers ... at least that has to be the reasoning. Anyway, who cares ... it's baseball and we get to watch it.

Yikes, this Monty start has the potential for Darvishesque results.

Almora is a career .270 hitter against rhp if I'm reading this right.

That excuse doesn't hold weight.

I was grasping for something that made it all make sense.

I took a few minutes ... I don't have the first idea what the hell Joe's doing ... sure as hell ain't the numbers suggesting it.

Just turned the game on in the top of the 8th with them up 5-0. Bumslaying away, but it looks like Montgomery had a great outing that was only limited by a hard 75 pitch limit. They have to give him another start, even if Darvish is ready to come back - skip Chatwood for a turn.

Bumslaying a team that is 28-24 coming into the game?

Nice outing for MOnty. Definitely adding to his case to be in the rotation

Rizzo has had a great month.

With some consistent starting pitching, these Cubs could be pretty good!

Joe letting the relievers hit again. For a guy like Strop, it's a huge reward.

Pittsburgh is the one place I would love to go see a game. That park looks sweet.

Definitely. That is a place I want to go see a game.

If you have never been to KC, make sure to take in a game there too. Very nice park

I think that all factors included, it's the best ballpark in MLB. But you have to get seats along the third base line to get the best views.

Of course it's not surprising that Heyward doesn't show well offensively, but aside from that, the Cubs' wRC+ is really damned good

Player || 2018 wRC+
Bryant || 156
Schwarber || 136
Happ || 130
Almora || 127
Baez || 127
TLS || 127
Conetreras || 122
Zobrist || 111
Russell || 101
Rizzo || 101
Heyward || 80

PNC is overrated. The skyline view is sweet. The city is nice, and the park is in a good locale. But I can’t get past the vanilla looking outfield wall. And the inside of the park (concourse) is nothing special. It is top five, but not number one in my opinion.

I got a good deal and sat in their club seats a few years ago. 200 level behind home plate. Beautiful August night. Perfect view of the skyline, comfy seats, and short beer lines. There’s probably very few bad seats but my vote is 200 or 300 behind home.

Fucking “great base runner” Heyward. Gets on via infield hit. Lester bunts foul and Heyward goes into second base sliding (shouldn’t he be peaking to see what the batter did?). Next play caught stealing.

Like they say in Elmhurst, 'nay'.

They hit Contreras shortly thereafter but there's no way it was on purpose given the situation.

If they were going to hit him, seemed like a perfect place to do it considering you're giving him a free pass anyway.
