It really does illustrate perfectly the way the press is handling Trump differently than the way they handled Obama. if they were really so concerned about families being torn apart and prison buses with baby seats, they would have known about them and reported on them during the Obama administration. Instead it's about #RESISTING and raging at the hated Drumpf. Unprecedented!

Did Obama's ICE lose 1500 kids in their draconian system? Some barely toddlers?

The But Obama narrative is not only tired and whorish, but the fastball for the nutty conspiracy theorists. Like you?!?

Come on. If you're going to defend that "reporting" all you're going to do is make yourself look silly. Is the article written during Obama's presidency suddenly not horrific because it didn't happen under Trump? Try to maintain a little credibility for God's sake.

Obama was deporting record numbers of illegal immigrants/undocumented workers and MANY Hispanics were loudly criticizing him. It didn't gain much traction because Obama didn't say anything foolish, Republicans didn't complain and in general MANY who aren't Hispanic don't care.

Yep.

I still don't care but MANY of the people who couldn't be bothered then seem to care an awful lot now.

I want to make clear, I'm not bashing Obama for the way he handled border security as far as families being separated while attempting to cross the border illegally is concerned. His mistake was probably encouraging them to come with DACA if you're going to criticize him. I just find it absurd that "reporters" read an old article and when they mistakenly thought Trump was presiding he was a super-villain and when they realized the horrors were actually occurring under Obama, suddenly equivocation was in full effect.

It's as blatantly biased and hypocritical as any scenario I could imagine.

It wasn't a good look for MANY in the media. As someone who probably falls on the "I don't care" side the majority of the time when it comes to deportations, I still believe that the heartlessness of General Kelly and this administration when it comes to their actions and rhetoric is alarming.

our current methodology is systemically creating these awful situations. i think regardless of the administration we can be appalled at this and hope it to be fixed. this isn't about that. its about idiots attempting to rip the current administration with an article that was specifically featured during the administration they wholly supported and never once made a peep about it prior. and then not owning it but deleting it while still trying to defend it.

But many choose to ignore that and the very real impact it's having across this country. And claims by MANY that it's the fault of the media or "libtards".

Just like when the idiot in chief claimed that the death toll in PR was around 70 when he was throwing paper towel rolls (that they defended) but nothing when the actual death tolls are released. Or care.

I have a bunch of friends who are good people who are here illegally. I don't want to see any of them deported. And you'd have to be a heartless fiend not to be disturbed at seeing parents and scared little kids being separated. But some of that has to be laid at the feet of the parents themselves. I'm not going to judge too harshly because everyone wants to make a better life. But that's why there are problems with stuff like DACA. It's an incentive to try to bring young kids here illegally. What seems humane on the surface, maybe really isn't. That's why we have the system we do that is supposed to preclude one guy from making king-like rulings on stuff like this. And that's a bi-partisan criticism.

Amazing how MANY cannot stomach a reasonable discussion based on that simple, honest examination of facts. Or even why they can't.

The real bi-partisan criticism is both sides using human beings as political footballs.

If we can't agree on the shitiness so readily apparent in this, then what will we ever be able to agree on?

The blatant hypocrisy is fucking stunning.

Absolutely. And we're not even talking about the horrible shit that often happens to these people as they attempt to get to the U.S. It would be really easy to stop and it doesn't take an expensive and ridiculous wall. But you'd have to really punish employers and that's a non-starter politically.
