For completely ruining the game of basketball with your emphasis on 3 point shots. For telling the world that they are idiots for thinking that the game is meant to be played and not micromanaged.

Well it's similar to the walk/shift/strikeout problem in baseball. It's hard to blame someone for optimizing their best chance of winning within the current rules, even though it makes for a worse viewing product.

Was it Chris Webber last night, right after the 0-27 skid, who immediately upon Houston hitting a 3 then the dubs answering with a layup still talking up the strategy?

Don't know if its the best chance to win though. Both game 7's were there to be won if they simply stopped chucking 3's.

In the ancient days a player like Trevor Ariza would not be allowed to take 11 3 point shots in an entire series let alone a single game.

James Harden would be benched MVP or no MVP for taking step back contested 27 footers.

Those are bad shots. Houston with all of their so called firepower failed to score 100 in 5 of 7 games.

That philosophy is screwing up the NBA. Gerald Green comes in and immediately starts firing.

Yeah they kept talking about how it was "their way". It is easy as hell to guard 3 point shooters when you know that all they are going to is shoot 3's.

Ironic that Durant knocked down 3 mid range jumpshots (a shot the analytics guys will you tell is terrible) to seal the win.

He took the best available shot and clinched the game for them.

I guess it's possible that EVERYBODY in the NBA community is wrong on the value of 3 point shooting.

Golden State and Houston also have very good defensive teams and played defense very well this series. I don't think you can only blame the missed shots. You have to give the defense credit.

One of those Durant shots was a three. IIRC it was to put the lead back up to 11.

Charles Barkley is in the NBA community. So is Mark Jackson. Kenny Smith too. They all thought it was stupid to keep chucking 3 point shots.

He raised up over Gordon for 2-3 mid range shots. Those are shots that Houston's GM and head say are stupid shots to take.

Charles Barkley says a lot of stupid stuff. I love him as an entertainer, but he's not very insightful.

Mark Jackson is a certified moron and would have ruined Steph Curry's career if GS hadn't luckily fired him first. He should never coach again.

Kenny Smith has been on record as saying the Houston strategy is the correct one to take on the Warriors. Maybe he changed his mind last night(didn't watch) but he has repeatedly championed that style of play throughout the season even while acknowledging it looks ugly when the threes aren't falling.

There's billions of dollars and hundreds of jobs on the line with this kind of stuff. It's tough to make the argument that all of those resources came to the wrong conclusion. Maybe though, who knows.

The data proves they are bad shots for the average player. Not everybody is Kevin Durant. Kevin Durant is incapable of taking a bad, stupid, low percentage shot.

Houston lives or dies by the 3 point shot. This should not be news to you, unless you watch far less basketball than I do.

D'Antoni demands his players take shots with 5 feet or outside the perimeter. That got them to Game 7 of the WCF. If you have the personnel for it, it is a good thing.

But the shots weren't falling. It happens.

Because at the end of the day, Houston was who we thought they were.

You said everyone in the community. I trust guys that have played the game much more than i do Darryl Morey about Basketball.

New Orleans had no problem scoring a hundred (4 out of 5) games against that same G.S.team

Houston did it twice and its not difficult to see why. People were laughing at them "in the NBA community" for that dumb shit last night.

Contested 3 point shots from 27 feet are bad shots. I don't care what data or jobs or whatever genius label you want to attach to that happens to be. Its a bad shot. The object of basketball is to take the best available shot. Whether its a mid range shot or 3 or layup.

They had more success attacking the rim. If they stay with that they probably win.

Mark Jackson interestingly is a moron because he doesn't agree with your opinion. Darryl Morey and D'Antoni aren't because they do.

No Mark Jackson is a moron because he tried to ruin Steph’s career by treating his injury with prayer instead of medicine. And because he shows himself to be a total dumbass whenever he announces a game. Has nothing to do with agreeing with me.

I don’t particularly like Dantoni and have certainly never called him a genius.

Argue the things I said. Don’t make shit up just to make the debate personal.

Please. Mark Jackson knows basketball. He has actually ran Basketball teams and was regarded as one of the smartest PGs in the game when he played. Save it.

If i really broke it down i don't think you'd be able to comprehend it. Their big went 9 for 10 from the field. Trevor Ariza went 0 for 11 from 3. In whose basketball world does that constitute a winning formula?

Knowing and teaching are two entirely different skill sets. Mark Jackson knew how to play basketball. He couldn't coach for shit and he demonstrates time and again he does not know how to coach/talk basketball. He simply resorts to cliches about trying hard and giving it to the hot hand. Momma there goes that man!!

I'm sorry if you think he sounds intelligent. He does not. And thank god he was fired before ruining Steph Curry.

If you'd actually watched the games you'd know that it was their defense and not offensive guru D'Antoni's offense which took G.S. to 7 games. Since you don't allow me to inform you.

Houston failed to score 100 in 5 out of 7 games. In fact everyone was bashing the hell out of that offense throughout most of the playoffs.

He won 53 teams as an NBA head coach.

It doesn't take a lot of intellect to see that missing 20 plus shots in a row and continuing to take those shots isn't a good idea. Most of those shots are terrible low percentage shots plus its easy to game plan for since everyone knows that you are going to keep taking them.

Which person looks like the bigger moron today D'Antoni or Jackson? Its easy. They are laughing stocks for that dumb shit. No excuse though i'm sure you will find one.

Before you begin lauding the greatness of DAntoni forget it. He flamed out in Denver. He Flamed out in New York and He flamed out in L.A.

Mark Jackson was successful in his only job as a head coach.

Mark Jackson was successful in his only job as a head coach.

In his most successful season he won 51 games and lost in the first round of the playoffs. That same team won 67 games and the NBA Finals the next season.

You have a weird definition of successful.

He left 19 games over .500 he definitely wasn't regarded as a failure.

Meanwhile lets talk Mike D who thought it was a great idea to feature NBA journeyman Jeremy Lin over Carmelo. How is that for genius. He was also a train wreck with the Lakers despite having a shit load of talent.

Save it.

He won 53 teams as an NBA head coach.

I don't really like D'Antoni either and don't remember really ever praising him. You're arguing with nobody.

I just explained why Jackson was a failure. You're wrong that he isn't regarded as that. There is a reason he is not even getting interviews anymore. He failed pretty hard in a situation that Steve Kerr proved was ripe to build a lasting contender.

And why you are sitting here questioning what Mark Jackson knows about basketball it was he who first declared Curry and Thompson to be 2 of the best shooters in NBA history. When he did it i'm sure you called him an idiot then too.

You know, somewhere on this board somebody is arguing at the NBA is in a great spot because ratings are up especially among the younger demographic. That same idiot start to thread saying that the NBA is ruined because of three point shots.

The author of this thread is so incredibly stupid.

As leash likes to point out - even an idiot can say something correct. I am not saying everything Jackson says is dumb. I'm saying he's a dumb guy and a proven failure as a head coach. Dumb guy is subjective, proven failure is not - he was fired and his team immediately when four rounds further in the playoffs and won the title with the same team. There is nothing you can say that will spin that as a positive.

He also had a young team that had never won shit anyway. Kerr isn't some great shakes and has really benefitted from having top flight assistants and superior talent.

Most people thought Jackson was screwed.

You are doing the Jorr i'm not defending him even as i'm defending him routine too.

You keep talking about everyone using them. I'm not talking about who uses them. I'm talking about disciples of it. I'm talking about those that think the world is stupid if you don't subscribe to every aspect of it.

G.S. Shoots more mid range shots than 3's. Thats blasphemous in the world of Morey. G.S. isn't a disciple of analytics.

S.A. uses it but they also take a number of mid range shots.
