Very disappointed in MANY of my Cubs brethren.

I can just imagine the death threats against anyone who would do that to Contreras.

Call it what it is. Dirty.

  Hardly.

I made two very clear arguments and only those two:

1) Rizzo is not a dirty player. I am made to understand by FF that nobody was arguing against that. Fine .... therefore he's not a dirty player.

2) That was not a dirty play. I am made to understand that Major League Baseball said that it was not a dirty play.

Strange definition you have of 'very rough'.

Never said Rizzo was a dirty player.

You were also quite condescending about Rizzo being in the clear because it passed the replay. MLB says it's illegal and Rizzo should have been out, and you still have no issue with the slide.

So yes, rough thread. Usually you're smarter than this.

Can I get a link where MLB says it’s not dirty and a link saying they acknowledged it was illegal?

Those two things don’t add up.

This one ..... https://abcnews.go.com/Sports/wireStory/mlb-rizzos-slide-dirty-illegal-55518479 .... is the first one I've found. I would say that it says 'Rizzo was told' but it doesn't explicitly say by MLB so it's not outright proof, but it would be rather odd to include that into a story if that wasn't from the league in some fashion.

That sounds pretty shaky.

It does .... that's why I pointed it out .... but as I say it would be strange to include that in the story - and the headline - if it was just some guy that said it to him. Could be; don't know for sure from that one story.

Because he wears the Cubs uniform, you have no issue with the slide even though it is in direct violation of the way the rule is currently written.

If that's true why did it pass review?

Frank will ignore this question because he has no answer.

The only reason he is against the slide is because it is the Cubs.

It cannot be a direct violation of the rule when both the umpire on the field and the review said it was fine.

Crickets from RFDC since. Figures...

Yeah well obviously the stance of MLB has changed since I wrote that. As has been pointed out already it seems as if MLB has no idea what to do with this rule and how to apply it. Is it reviewable, is it not? It is ridiculous that the people whose job is to review stuff in NY have no idea what they are doing.

I stand by my stance that Rizzos slide was not a dirty play, it was a baseball play. It was ruled after the fact that it was illegal by MLB. So while wrong by the letter of the law, I still have no problem with the play. Just as I had no problem with the Pitts pitchers slide tonight into Baez. It is a baseball play. I dont care if Baez or anyone else did not like it, it is a baseball play.

Now what about your stance that if the Cubs had a guy slid into that I and others would be going apeshit? Where is this at? I have seen none of us homer Cub fans going apeshit like you said we would....

At least we have one Cubs fan with the guts to admit that he is OK with his team cheating.

Kudos to you.

Seriously, Frank had a winning hand here with the illegal slide but he went way too hard on the ridiculous "if it were Contreras, you'd be going nuts" thing that is just so far from reality. What baseball fan gets the protective over a catcher getting taken out? No one, that's who.

Even that one was a full on take out tackle, not a feet first slide.

You may be right given that Cubs fans celebrate an opposing catcher being punched in the face by their own.

He's the first one out of the dugout for any controversy and the last one to take responsibility for his own misdeeds.

Those traits don't make him exceptional on this team of turds. They learned from Just for Men Joe

Yep. Frank loves to call out other people and post crickets, but it is amazing how fast he goes crickets when it is something he does not want to deal with

My thoughts on Baez being a tool and a hypocrite were made last week when he couldn't handle a Redlegs pitcher striking him out.
