Can you please do the math which gets you to 8 mil in the Bay Area. Have some integrity for once in your life. If you do that i will leave it alone. Save psych evals and simply tell me where those figures were wrong. You were happy to do so when thought they were.

Your message board comrade provided false stats and you hopped your happy and willing ass in when you thought they were factual. You took personal jabs as you often do. I provided evidence (simple shit that the avg 4th grader would know) and now you are deflecting.

Show me how we get to 8 mil.

Its a petty ass argument that men should not have but this is about something else.

Right here you fucking dumbass...

If you're bored, here is the data for Chicago metro area, which is 9.8 million for comparison sake

https://censusreporter.org/profiles/330 ... in-wi-csa/

And see for me that is bullshit. I don't count surrounding areas. Either you are in the city or you aren't. Ya ass don't pay taxes then you aren't from Chicago. Fuck that surrounding metropolitan area bullshit.

You can have that if you like. I'm good last i checked Chi pop 2.8 and declining.

That is for suburban people that want to claim the city when its convenient and diss the city when it isn't.
TV markets extend beyond city limits you moron... unless TV/radio signals suddenly disappear when you leave a city and cable companies provide different local channels when you enter the suburbs.

I haven't listened to terrestrial radio in some time, but does 670 drop off when you enter Evanston?

You aren't being revelatory asshole. I can tap into a radio station in Milwaukee and it doesn't mean i'm part of the "Milwaukee market"

Every market expands but the fact remains that you'd be hard pressed to find anyone that considers G.S. a big market team.

Milwaukee is not part of the Chicago media market because Milwaukee has its own major network affiliates on TV. Milwaukee has its own market and comes in at #35. Now that's a small TV market, not #6, which is what SF-OAK-SJ is.

Here is a map of all of the TV markets, so when we talk about whether a market is a major market or not, we are talking about how many people live within each of these divided regions. That blue market on the West Coast happens to be the 6th largest by population in the US. Anything in the Top 10 is considered a major market in this country.

I'm not surprised long time guy can't count to 8.7 million because he can't even get to 6 million.

For the record surrounding areas were never included in the original discussion either. You aren't explaining anything guy. I know you think you are but you aren't. Every major city has suburban areas which increase the population dramatically.

As i stated i will leave it alone for now.

This really is one of the dumbest arguments in the history of the board but the Nielsen DMA maps are interesting to look at.

I thought we had Kenosha County for TV purposes (we do for census purposes) because I know most of the county gets Chicago stations but I guess tie goes to Wisconsin on that one.

The clubhouse leader for stupidest CSMB argument, Television Division, was when jimmypasta complained that news of storms in Coal City was interrupting Dancing with the Stars and why don't they just keep that to Coal City's ABC affiliate. Did we pass it?

This entire discussion is about market size and yes suburbs count in every market when determining its size. Quit moving the goal posts because you got your ass kicked.

The real question now is how is Zanesville, Ohio its own television market?

Only because he wanted to watch Dancing with the Stars

Big Market Chicago: 5 major pro teams
Small Market Bay Area: 6 major pro teams
Makes sense...

Yeah and the Bay Area encompasses 3 major cities with at least 3 to 4 teams having moved or threatened to move in the past 25 years or so. Thats some big market for you.

I'm not interested in this silly argument because it has strayed too far from the original point.

Yes, 3 major cities being there is one of the reasons it is a big market. Chicago has also had 2 teams threaten to move.

None has however. Raiders have moved 3 to 4 times in 35 years.

The NBA still sucks. When your finals match-up is the same 4 years running, you have a broken league. No one starts watching the games until May, which is exactly why the NFL talk dominates in March when LTG got his panties in a wad over it.

Nothing that happens in the NBA from October's start of the seasons until the 2nd round of the playoffs matters since there are never any real playoff battles with implications (teams that get 7 or 8 seeds never win) and never any major upsets in the 1st round. The NBA sucks

The Ratings for the NBA finals last season (after the same teams had met for the 3rd time in a row) were the highest that they've been since the Jordan era.

2. Injuries to star players on other teams are the primary reason that you have the same 2 teams in the finals this year.

3. Parity which know nothings like you laud all the time, is simply code for mediocrity. There is nothing exciting about seeing a bunch of shitty ass 10-6 teams battle it out in the Super Bowl every year. NFL was better when they had Juggernaut teams. More people will remember the "how bout them Cowboy teams" of the 90's than they will this shitty ass Philly team of this past season and there is a reason for it. They were better. Much better.. Its the same reason that the Lakers-Celtics of the 80's are more revered than the early 2000's Pistons teams or the 2011 Mavericks team.

5. NBA ratings up double digits this past season (When everyone knew who would be in the finals)

NBA playoffs 30%. (When everyone knew who would be in the Finals)

6. NCAA tournament. Loyola. Great story. Partially due to this great story and partially due to the mediocre nature of college basketball, ratings for the Final Four were abysmal.

This great story produced one of the more lackluster games in recent memory. That is what "parity" does for you. People want to see greatness. G.S. gives you that for better or worse. People love rivalries. G.S. Cleveland has turned into that.

You can have your parity which is nothing more than a dressed way of calling something mediocre and i will take my Lakers Celts and i will beat you everytime.

Who cares. It still takes 3 cities to comprise this major market of yours and the only one that is viable individually is San Fran.

Oakland A's will be moving in the next 20 years book it.

Yeah this product sure does suck doesn't it.

http://amp.si.com/nba/2018/04/12/nba-se ... aight-year.

95% of seats sold Attendance up for the 4th year in a row but people hate it because they have to watch Cleveland for the year in a row. "That really is a fate worse than death".

The number of cities don't matter. The NY market goes over 3 different states.

The number of cities very much matters San Fran Fans don't Identify with Oakland Fans for football. Why is that if they are theoretically "one big market". Same thing happens in baseball also. Giants fans don't Identify with A's fans. Why is that if its "one big market".

Warriors situation is different of course but i don't really think that San Jose claims the Warriors.

As i told you not much interested. If you don't care to address my other points have a good one.

Have you seen the Cubs/Sox section here? Two local teams will have a split fanbase. The same thing happens in New York.

Who do they claim then? San Jose is 35 miles from Oracle Arena. That's roughly the same distance as Naperville is to most Chicago stadiums.

You keep on saying you don't have an interest and yet you are clinging to it. If you don't care much then just admit that the Bay Area is not a small market.

My original point pertained to Oakland which is a small market.

As i stated you have no interest in Addressing anything NBA related so adios amigos.

Do the New York Giants and New York Jets play in a small market?
