They have been The San Francisco Warriors. That was in the 70's. They have been in Oakland as long as i can remember. They were undeniably Oakland's team til they began to win. Coincidentally it was around the time that it was announced that they were moving to San Fran.

The Oakland based professional players Jason Kidd, Gary Payton, Lillard and others always Id'd the Warriors as their hometown team. As far back as i can remember they were Oakland's team.

They weren't in San Fran that long as Philly was actually their original home.

I mean to me San Fran and San Jose especially are only claiming them because they are winning. The fans that are at the game now look different than those that attended 10 years ago.

The We Believe Warriors with Baron Davis and Stephen Jackson (team that upset Dallas in the playoffs) had a fanbase that was much different than that of today. It is evidenced by the cheap ticket prices that they had. They were among the lowest in the league.

The fans of Oakland stuck with them when the team wasn't shit too. They were among the most loyal in the NBA. Especially so considering their team really wasn't shit. Now that they are good they are bouncing but its business and what can anyone really do about that?
