Our Home Fronts have given us an overwhelming superiority in weapons and munitions of war, and placed at our disposal great reserves of trained fighting men. The tide has turned! The free men of the world are marching together to Victory!

I have full confidence in your courage, devotion to duty and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full Victory!

It wasn't young men not only gave it all on the beach but across the German rear thanks to the young men of the 82nd and 101st Airborne. A tradition of LGOPs(Little Group of Paratroopers) that I learned all about in the 82nd.

I'll have a beer today in everyone's memory.

Has to be an incredibly solemn sight to see the cemetery. I hope one day to have the chance to see it.

Well I was in the 82nd but I'm not old enough to be DS's dad.

The division is still super proud of D-Day. New troopers are expected to learn all the MOH winners from the campaign and the DZs. The idea of LGOPs just falling in behind enemy lines and fucking shit up is also hyped.

When I was working at Hollywood video at Archer and Harlem,this old guy kept coming in.Wearing the hat with the pins on it. I asked him what campaigns he was in,fucking dude was a pathfinder for all three combat jumps the 82nd did.From that day on he never payed for a rental in that store as long as I was employed there.

It was. Very quiet and peaceful. I was rather awe-struck touring Omaha Beach and standing in German machine gun bunkers.

Impossible to imagine being on one of those boats approaching the beach knowing you'd be lucky to survive.
