Yeah.. we really don’t know what, if anything, he was doing to deal with depression. Lots of people have killed themselves while seeking help. This shit digs it’s claws in and even with a “great” life it can be hard to fight. Even the fact that you are depressed when life seems to be going so well can be confounding for people suffering through it or for those around it. It’s a shame.

Twitter is arguing that you shouldn't use the phrase committed suicide anymore since it isn't PC and labels suicide as sinful and wrong.

No shit.

You really think people who commit suicide are "selfish pricks"?

It's always interesting that people think someone would "choose" to kill themselves. Outside of doing it because you have an incurable disease, it is completely irrational and it goes against all of human nature.

When I saw the news this AM, my first two thoughts were:

1. Some horrible kind of cancer or dementia diagnosis, or
2. David Carradine.

That sucks.

He was outspoken against Harvey Weinstein. They probably killed him for it.

No, I'm pretty sure God is cool with that line of thinking.

Yea. It's not hard for me though. Every time I play a video game I get an overwhelming feeling I'm wasting my life.

Then I go to a bar and drink

A lot of people wuss out and off themselves facing a tremendous punishment or reckoning. Like a life sentence or being found out to be someone like Madoff or Sandusky.

Very "fire and brimstone-y". Thanks Jerry Falwell.

The answer to this question lies in science not religion.

Aren't orgasms pretty cool on their own ( not that my wife would know ) without having to "intensify" thereby choking yourself?

I don't think that is the case here, but really euthanasia should be an option for people. We have the compassion to let our pets die peacefully when they become terminally ill, but we don't have the same compassion for ourselves. If I ever got a diagnosis like ALS, I'd opt for euthanasia once I lost motor function.

I don't know if it has been studied, but I bet social media helps drive this as everyone thinks their friends and acquaintances have the perfect life and don't realize that those people are just putting out the good and hiding the bad.

Shout out to google ads on another site I read. Someone started this thread there and it’s full of Ashley Madison ads because “life is short”

Your life will be shorter when their next security leak lets your wife see you were trying to cheat on her.

This 100%. My wife’s grandma passed from this last year. Simply awful.

Anyone who opposed euthanasia should live through a grease fire.

People agreeing with North's brazenly stupid tweet (is there any other kind?) ought to be troubled simply with the fact that they're agreeing with North.

As someone who has been in the deepest parts of depression and has had 4 suicide attempts, first was at age 14. You have no idea what the person is going through. To even reach the place where you are getting ready to do it is a fucked up trip of mind and spirit.

I agree. Then, before its even cold, cut my body/brain apart to study it in the hopes that there is information in there to help further treatments.
