How many more Finals losses does he need to surpass Jordan?

This doesn't do anything to change the fact that LBJ is more talented than MJ.

Different players so talents are hard to compare. But LeBron is not the same killer mj was. This was proven the other night. Mj didn't make excuses. Nor did mj ditch his team to chase rings.

Numbers prove it. I'll admit that MJ had better teammates in the aggregate and that he was better at punching those teammates in the face.

Talent doesn’t weigh into the goat discussion for me. Considering his overall package with his size I wouldn’t actually fight him having more talent. He probably has more god given talent than MJ.

He is missing the heart and drive that are credited to Jordan. If you could put Jordan’s brain into lbjs body you have the stuff of nightmares

No they don't. Numbers favor Jordan.

Saw a funny meme today on FB. It said raise your hand if you never have been swept in the finals shitting on Lebron. It had a pic of MJ, Kobe, Duncan and someone else with hand up doing the number one.

It takes heart and drive to make it to nine finals, including eight in a row. It takes heart and drive to come back from 1-3 and win the finals. It takes heart and drive to drag Zyrdunas Illgauskas and Larry Hughes to the finals as a 22 year old. It takes heart and drive to double your team's win total as an 18 year old rookie and then start a personal streak of 14 years straight of above .500 ball as a 19 year old.

It takes heart and drive to repeatedly ditch your teammates for new, better ones. It takes heart and drive to break your hand after a tough loss because that's how mature you are at 33 years old. It takes heart and drive to mock a sick Dirk Nowitzki right before he single handedly kicks the shit out of you and your "superteam'. It takes heart and drive to publicly say you need more help on multiple occasions. It takes heart and drive to quit on your team and your teammates in 2010, 2011, 2014, and 2018.

See, here's the thing.

This isn't baseball where, for the most part, we have to rely on numbers to compare different generations of players because not only have there been so many of them, but relatively speaking, there's very little available video footage available for baseball's lifetime.

This whole Michael vs LBJ nonsense, however, does not need numbers as its primary, let alone only, source of 'data'.

We have scads of available footage to watch ... scads. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then that probably means that the available video on both of these guys is worth more than every word or number ever written in the history of man.

And I don't know why this gets lost in the conversation, but the NBA - like pretty much everything - is results-oriented. Championships are the results that count, not how many times you got there and failed. There's where your numbers come into play. The rest ... well, I've got eyes and I wasn't a kid when Jordan and co. were wang-whipping the league.

As I said, lock the thread, it's over ... it's all over.

Him getting in the face of Ainge in the '93 Finals was great.

Agreed, the “makes his teammates better” narrative has to be officially dead.

Lebron wouldn't have the same numbers if he was playing in Jordan's era. Jordan was putting up better numbers then Lebron in a league that played man to man and could hand check.

Imagine how many points Jordan would have scored if you couldn't hand check him and played against a zone defense.

Lebron putting up similar numbers to Jordan does not make him GOAT in a league that is much easier to score in.

All of the switching makes it easier to score too.

The Jordan lovers are so emotional about this topic that they've just started arguing with themselves about how great he was.

I think I've said on multiple occasions that I'd go with Jordan, but JORR is correct in that there is no having a rational conversation about this with most Chicagoans. I could say that Jordan is only twice as good as Lebron, and you all would tell me that's not good enough. This thread is basically just a bunch of you saying "I love him more!" "No, I love him more!"

The fact that Cleveland lost in a sweep to GS is a surprise to no one, so I'm not sure why everyone is all chest thumpy over something we all knew would happen.

You're trolling or desperate at this point but.. Jordan is a better scorer and defender, Lebron is a better passer and rebounder. Jordan has superior handles too. When you get past basketball talent and into physical talent I'd give the edge to LBJ -but MJ's athleticism was no joke in his prime.

But Jordan has more Basketball talent than LBJ overall. There are things MJ did to score buckets and make plays that LBJ could never do. And that's just pure talent on MJ's end. Kobe is closest to copying it, but he comes up short on execution more often than not.

Dunno but with all the failure and coming up short on LBJ's end of this debate.. there's a strong argument that the LBJ romanticism is.

Lbj has more "talent" than MJ in the same way Cutler had more "talent" than Tom Brady.

Don't know if anyone brought this up but didn't MJ get poisoned and still kick the fuck out of his opponent in the finals and win the series?

No. He was electrocuted with a car battery and run over by a John Deere tractor before cutting off his own leg and playing game 5 to the tune of 47 points.

That is just plain and utter nonsense. Why are you going around making posts where you assume everything there is a fact?

You don't know that it was a John Deere.
